does anyone know if european nations accept the DO degree as an equivalent to their MBBS degree? sort of how MD and DO are seen in the US?

i'm sure i speak for many others that it would be nice to be able to, at the least, have the option to do rotations or have the option of practicing abroad.

thanks

There's a sticky about countries that accept the DO degree. Look for it in either the pre-osteo or osteo forum.

As far as foreign rotations are concerned, I can't speak for other schools but OU-COM (Ohio) offers a Geriatrics rotation in Scotland for 4th year med students. You can also arrange a foreign rotation on your own and if the department approves it you can use them as away electives (1 month duration).

This was definately a concern of mine. I really like traveling and wanted to do rotations in other countries. Where is DO not accepted? I would love to do a rotation in the UK.

You can do some electives in Canada if you want.

But just a reminder... it is best for a student to do elective rotations at a place where they wish to Match for residency.
