Radiology programs are directly recruiting foreign-trained radiology residents to fellowship programs/faculty and give them a free pass into the US healthcare system. Unlike every other specialty, they don't need to do residency.

Where is the outrage among the US medical students/radiology residents?

Here are the IMG requirements for ABR certification:

My feeling on IMG's entering the US to practice is mixed, and a long topic of discussion... in any case, after 5 years you have 12 posts? Obviously you are just trolling by to get people riled up... fair enough, I appreciate a good ruffling of the feathers once in a while, but the least you can do is post some cogent points related to your statement.

He was starting a radiology fellowship "fresh off the boat". He told me that once he finished the fellowship, he would have to find an internship and complete an entire residency to get licensed and boarded in the US. It didn't seem very much of a shortcut to me.

As an anesthesiologist, I have seen similar type deals on faculty practices. Some states give academic medical centers special licenses to recruit distinguished international doctors. They may not have to do even an internship as is required in many states to get a license to practice at the state institution.

These days to truly practice freely in the US you need American internship, residency and boards.
