  1. Pre-Medical
I'm a non-trad (2016 college grad) applying to premedical post-baccalaureate programs. Like for med school, they require that you submit transcripts for all institutions ever attended. I'd completely forgotten that I took one summer session general chemistry course in high school and only just remembered after talking to my parents last night. To make things even worse, I went and looked for the transcript only to find that I'd gotten a D in the class. I have an otherwise fairly strong app, and I've already gotten interview invites at some programs and finished interviewing for others (no admissions decisions yet). I'm obviously reporting this to the schools. Does anyone have advice on how I should go about this? Am I pretty much going to be auto-disqualified, especially since I'm having this realization so late? Any thoughts would be appreciated! (Also I realize this is pretty convoluted...so let me know if you have any questions)

Did you transfer these credits? Do they show on your other college transcripts

Did you retake General Chemistry in college?

I did not. I took one sem of orgo (in which I didn’t do quite so poorly, lol) while I was trying to figure out what I was most interested in

You needed to retake General Chemistry to fulfill premed requirements. Nearly every medical school requires a grade of at least a C for you to meet their requirement.

Yep, that’s why I’m doing a post-bac. The issue is more of how I present it to the post bac programs and whether or not the grade is an automatic disqualifier.

gotcha okay, the way I read it was as if you just did not have that requirement filled at all.

Well you can submit an Academic Change Request to AMCAS and send them the transcripts now and they will update it. (Academic Change Requests)

I am not sure how this will be seen by the various medical schools you have applied to, that will depend on how much it changes your UG GPA and Science GPA since it is a required pre-med course, but you are retaking the course anyways so as long as you ace it this time your previous grade might not have that big of an impact especially since it was from so long ago and you are not the same student now as you were then. This issue has come up before on SDN, some have said that they probably wouldn't notice, however if they every find out after you have been accepted you could be expelled from the medical school for an ethical violation by not reporting it. I think you should be completely transparent and submit the Academic Change Request. Hope this helps.

Haha I think there must have been a miscommunication somewhere, because I’m asking about this for career changer post bac programs! Definitely far away from applying to actual medical school. Thanks for the advice nonetheless.
