But do you think that we can retake and still get into a top 10?
Yes, you can retake and get into a top 10 school. Remember, schools look at your whole application. A friend of mine made a 32 the first time, and then scored a 34 the next time. He got in EVERYWHERE he applied--including WashU and UPenn. So retaking doesn't kill your changes of getting into a top 10 school.

Thank you! That makes me feel much better. I just feel as though I bombed the bio section, while on the AAMC practice tests, I had been getting rockin' scores. I'll trust life to steer me down the right path.

On the PS discrete at the end....the acid-base neutralization question....did anyone get an answer that wasn't an answer choice?

Yes, that neutralization question was a time sucker for me...
I lost my senses and wasted so much time trying to get one of their answer choices, but I was off by a magnitude of 10...

Very confused.

A what the heck was that ProtoSTAR passage?
All in all, the bio and verbal felt pretty normal. But I was incinerated by the PS section.

I didn't complete one whole passage and I had to guess straight C's on another 4 or 5 questions.
All my Kaplan, Princeton Review, and AAMC practice tests have been between 33 - 36, so I was so stunned by how horrible the PS section felt.

Anyone have any comments?

You and I had similar experiences, first time that i havent finished a PS section and had to guess on about 4 or 5, and i can count probably 3 other questions that i know i got wrong for sure.

im no physics major and TPR did NOT prepare me for that harmonic motion passage.

i didn't have this test form, but i had that same question. i am writing to the AAMC to challenge it b/c i'm 99% sure the correct answer was not listed in the answer choices. if you want to write to them too, you just need to know the specific quesiton number (in my case it was 74) and specifics about the question. e-mail [email protected], and/or write to the MCAT program office in Iowa. all the specifics about challenging a question are in the MCAT essentials.

EDIT. I was also frantically scrambling to finish, so I didn't have the liberty of spending more time, but I didn't feel it necessary. I thought the PS on my form (AM) was the hardest section, more so than bio (save the +/- garbage).

If anyone wants to discuss specific q's, I'd like to via PM.

I had a force/bruise discrete question...and OChem is a complete blur to me. I had form BG, but a lot of questions are overlapped it seems

PLEASE stop discussing MCAT test questions !! It violates AAMC copywrite laws and could get SDN in a LOT of trouble.

If you MUST discuss questions (and I don't advise it as you'll just think you failed/bombed a test for the next 8 straight weeks!) take it to PM or AIM.

If questions continue to be posted the thread will be deleted.

am i the only one that thought the BS section was RIDICULOUS?????

I second that..I read those passages and was like what in the world?? 😱

I didn't think the PS was too bad, but didn't finish. Verbal was awesome and I finished on time. But I feel like I got beat up during bio..damm

haha... sorry for anything illegal i posted... !! 😳 i thought since others were doing it, it must be ok! ooopps....

ah ha... we must have all committed an ad populum.

I thought cigarettes were cool too because everybody was smoking them! 😛

I also apologize for discussing specifics...haha I'm guilty of trying to hide between all those posts and fish for information 😳

lol someone could make a *secret* 😉 forum outside of sdn and talk about it. hehehe. but then again, it's not a secret if everyone knows...

I know what you're talking about. My answer was a power of ten bigger. I hope they really messed up.

Also... here's another mess up....on PS, ....QUOTE]

That was a good guess. A concave lens is synonymous with a diverging lens and a convex lens is synonymous with a converging; probably some old school terminology.

Me too! I thought I was the only one who had trouble with this one. I tried several time and I kept getting some thing different from the answer!

Obviously there was an error in the acid/base question in PS...did you guys all contact AAMG? anyone not have a problem with that question? btw, seems like almost EVERYONE never does well on verbal. Who are those peeps that do?!

I wrote to AAMC about that question.

I wrote to them. I'm really thinking cynically that this was a "test" question that was meant to waste our time. I mean, they must have lots of proofreaders/testtakers to go over the exams (and it's not like it was a problem on just a few forms, it was messed up on EVERY form) so they had to KNOW that it was there before the test.

Maybe I'm just being too cynical...

Is AAMC supposed to respond eventually? Do you ever hear anything back? I had the question as well.

For the debate earlier, I just came across this in my orgo lab today and saw this.. (trying to be vague here..)
think this compound looks good?

Looks like a winner 👍 .

Same here...I'm thinking that AAMC made an error on that question. Maybe they'll throw it away 🙂

Only thing that I can think of is maybe because you were transfering 100mL to liters, there could have been a mistake.

Rock on!!

The testing center and the way the exam was administered was horrible. We took it at the LA Convention Center and since I was at the end of the alphabet, our room waited the longest and finished last compared to the other rooms. Outside of the environment, the AG exam was so-so. I finished the PS with 10 minutes to spare, but went back to the same questions everyone else discussed eariler. The VS sucked because that 10 question 7th passage ate all my time and messed my rhythm...so stupid! In retrospect I should've skipped it and focused more on the last 2 passges. Although I had 20 minutes left on the BS, it was definitely wicked hard with all the reading and experimental data. I thought the orgo stuff was ridiculous! Anyway, I hope I'm following my trend from the past AAMC tests where I improved one point each time. All we can do is pray! Best of luck

didnt have this administration, but i was recently enrolled in physics II, so i can say:

for a converging lens:

between 0 and 1 focal length from lens, image is virtual, erect, magnified.
between 1 and 2 focal lengths (i.e. radius of curvature), image is real, inverted, magnified.
beyond 2 focal lengths, image is real, inverted, reduced.

for a diverging lens:

image is virtual, erect, reduced

same rules for concave mirror as converging lens;
same rules for convex mirror as diverging lens.

Should be able to get the answer to any problem from there.
