does anyone know about the formula for primary screen? i was told by some admission committee that they have their own 'formula' that they use to screen out numerous applicants, not necessarily GPA plus MCAT total score. Some school takes particular section of the test plus other significant factors.. anyway..i'm just wondering if anyone is aware of this?

This "formula" varies from school to school. However, most will involve GPA and MCAT numbers to varying degrees; these are quick devices, and with regard to MCAT scores, seen as a balanced way to compare applicants from diverse backgrounds.

If you are particularly interested in certain schools, try obtaining this info from the schools directly.

Obviously, the MSAR and other guide books can provide you with average stats for each school to give you an idea of the range of scores that make one competitive.
