I always get this confused. I know that the closer the two genes are on the same chromosome, the more likely they are to cross over together(LINKED genes). But when you do gene mapping, the frequency of recombination is inversely related to the distance between the two genes(i.e. the closer the two genes are to each other, the less likely they are to recombine). I think these are two separate concepts, but I am not sure. I think I'm getting the two confused-- can someone clear this up for me?
