So, I'm currently going to Trinity University in SA, TX. I doubt anyone here has even heard of this school, because its very small, and what attracted me was the huge amounts of attention the faculty gives to its students. Well, the school is great at that. The faculty is awesome in helping me, and I definitely get ALL my questions answered in a short amount of time. HOWEVER, socially I am not happy at all. I don't like the people here and I am cooped up in my room all day!!! My G.P.A was below 3.0 first semester because I was so unhappy so I could not even think about transferring anywhere soph year. I know I'm getting all A's this semester, in the spring, and I'll probably have a 3.0 at the end of the year.

I feel sooo doomed here at this school, and I hate that I have to spend another year hear but I also feel like if I transferred to UT austin I would be competing with so many other students and my chances for getting into med school would be lower - (pretty much all premed students here at Trinity get into most TX med schools) . if I transferred it would either be next spring, or junior year. What do you guys recommend? Do med schools look down on transfers? I'm so confused, and I want to do whats best for my career but I'm just so unhappy here. I love austin so much and I have a blast every time I go there...But will I be risking my chances for med school too much? please please please help me. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

What's your actual problem ? Why don't you just switch friends ?

okay, the size of our class is 600 people. Most of whom are anti social. There are not that many people to choose from. my problem is - i would transfer in a heartbeat - if i was 100% it wouldnt bring my chances of getting into med school down.

I was going to say you should talk to GoSpursGo. He attends Trinity (I think) and he seems like a pretty cool dude!

but it looks like he has contacted you already!

You can transfer to Rice...we'd welcome you with open arms 😀

I've heard UT and A&M are really, really hard to transfer into.

I dunno if anyone from Texas has NOT heard of Trinity. I didn't know GSG goes there, though.

Im also from SA TX. Trinity is a great school... pretty expensive though. Also, UT-Austin is pretty difficult to transfer into. I know UTSA has a program that offers a year at UTSA and then guarenteed admission into austin Im not sure of the details but it may be something to look into. Good luck.

I have a lot of friends at Trinity and they love it there. I can understand where you are coming form though... I went to Tech for my first year and was unhappy. I transferred into UT Austin for my second year with a 3.13 GPA so its possible. Just apply early and write a really good essay. Good luck!

I've had several friends transfer into UT. I think as long as you have a 3.2 or 3.3 you've got a decent shot.

UT is not that great after all. But I don't think it's hard to transfer to UT either. I transferred to UT from an oversea university with 3.3gpa. So I think you can make it if you wish.

They accept you as a transfer and you turn around and say they're not that great after all? That sounds a bit ungrateful to me.

It is what is it, an extremely large public institution. The academic standards for transfer are going to be nothing like Harvard's. They probably accept a decent amount of transfer students every year.
