Hey all,

I'm a Biology major (maybe entrepreneurship minor) freshman in my second quarter at a CA state school and just wanted to know how I was doing. I am aiming for a top 10 medical school in the future and I know that's a ways away but I still wanted to get a glimpse if I'm on the right track for that goal.

Summer Program GPA 3.7 (Communications, General Psych)
Fall Quarter GPA 3.86 (Bio/Chem/Anthropology/PolySci/IntroToBmed)

Science GPA 4.00
Overall GPA 3.81

Research: 2 Projects, 5 months (200-300 Hours)
Possible second author publication in summer.
Scheduled for poster presentation in April
100 Hours shadowing (surgery/anesthesiology)

NCAA D1 Athlete Swimming (20-25 hours/week)
AMSA, Economics Society, Entrepreneurship Club, American Chemical Society

Any recommendations for what more I can do this upcoming quarter or in the summer?

Thanks!

Come back when you’re ready. Until then, enjoy your freshman year and have fun. Way too early in the process to start worrying.

Gain clinical and non-clinical volunteer experience and shadow physicians, too.

See you in a couple years.

You'll need more clinical experience, either volunteer or paid (as an ED scribe or tech, something like that). Study for the MCAT starting in the summer and destroy it when you take it. Being a pre-med D1 athlete with your current GPA and research experience is amazing and will be very attractive to whatever medical schools you apply to. Maintain GPA. You are on the right track. You got this.
