Hi there....i have done my pharmacy from pakistan with a GPA of 2.85 out of 4 and post graduate diploma in pharmaceutical analysis from Scotland.....is there any chances if i m eligible to apply in medicine in canada, america or elsewhere.i was looking at carribean schools but i didnt find them very exciting apart from they r more into money making machines by promoting false information on their websites. Eastern europe schools are also in my list as they have very good reputation. I was more into canadian schools but i think they dont give international students admission unless someone know about it. Do i also have to give MCAT as its basically for ppl with basic science or non science background. i dont mind giving MCAT but problem is it happens once a year and i want to go to medical school this year. Am i too late. Do i have to bother about MCAT as all of my education revolves around pharmacy. What school is best for me. I will appreciate if any of the experienced member reply me in detail. Thank you.

From what I've read in other forums, Canada is not the place international students should think of going to for a medical education. I know one of the Ontario schools does accept international students, but the student would have to be absolutely stellar to even have a chance..

Your GPA I'm sorry to say is very very low.. (yes even for such a undeveloped place such as Canada.)

I don't think many people with 2.8 GPA's would even make it into the States so probably your best bet would be in the Carribean

What do you mean "undeveloped?" It is much harder to get into med school in Canada than in the States.

Yea really with that avg. you only have a chance in Carribiean. Canadian schools are tougher to get into than American Schools. And it doesn't matter that you did pharmacy, you will still have to do MCAT.

actually i did some looking around int he forum and it seems like even the caribbean may have higher standards...

I suggest you re-do some pre-req courses and score higher on them
