Not only that, people in the FSU waiting list are people like me for example, who have not yet gotten accepted anywhere else and the chance of them declining that acceptance is minimal...

There is nothing else to do but wait....I kind of deserve this for not making my best effort while an undergrad...Listen and learn kids...stay in school

Another obstacle to consider are the students who are on waitlists at other schools who won't hear back regarding their status before the early start date for FSU. A lot of seats may go to students who would prefer to be at other schools. 👎

Has anyone found the Admissions office to be helpful!!!?!?!?! I am getting so irritated. I have called repeatedly with no answer, left a message and did not get a call back...i FINALLY got in contact with an actual person and it went like this:

Me: Hi, I am currently in the Hold category and was hoping I could find out when I would be notified of my status?

Woman: Uhh..well....the admissions committee hasnt met yet

Me: Oh, well do you know when that might be?

Woman: Uhh...maybe at the end of the month? I'm not sure.....

Me: Okay, well those of us on Hold, are we automatically put on an alternate list, or can some of us be accepted or rejected?

Woman: Uhhh...I don't know....I didn't work here last year.

Me: Uhh...Okay, thanks. Bye.

If she did not know anything, why didn't she put me in contact with someone who did know!?!?! I keep gettin the run around from these people, its really rude. And I emailed about 2 weeks ago and the committee 'supposedly' hadn't met yet! What the heck is going on!?!?!?!? Sorry for ranting, but this is really annoying! 😡 😡 😕

I know what you mean. I was told, by phone, that they were going to meet last Tuesday to talk about people on hold. What makes this even more bewildering is that, they seem to be dragging there feet, but have an early start date. I probably have too much time to think about all this, but can't help wondering if they're procrastinating so people have to make a quick discussion before other schools get back to students or if they are really having problems handling the logistics of the increased applicant pool. I think everyone would just like a date to put on the calendar, to say: this is the day. I was in the hold category at another school, and when they fell behind they let everyone know it would be one more week.

I think there have been a lot of changes in the admissions office this year...from what i heard. I can never get in touch with anyone. Even when i followed the directions that were posted earlier on this forum, i still got voice mail. oh well. trying to stay positive though!

There are a lot of changes going on at FSU. They have a brand new admissions dean. So I'm sure that that could be a reason why things are a bit different this year.

OK, I talked to a friend of mine who's a first year at FSU and who asked Dr. Eveland directly about the admissions situation.

He (Dr. Eveland) said that they will send letters to accepted applicants with multiple acceptances the date of Apr 15th, giving them a final dateline of May 1st to make a decision as to what school they would like to attend. So, after April 15, if there are acceptees out there thinking about dropping their FSU aceptance we should have some movement.

I hope this comforts a lot of people...filibuster for sure...

No, I had a problem initially with the copy I mailed, but I called them and ended up faxing another copy. After faxing it, I called the lady again and she told me she had received it, so, I know for sure they have it. By the way, your post above about the bridge program. I would totally be willing to do that if there are no better choices. Anyone know how they decide who they will be offering to be part of this???

I have no idea, I actually spoke to the Bridge program coordinator regarding the same question. She basically said that they review the files after the final admissions decisions have been made, and they will pull "qualified applicants" and offer them a position in the program.

I was thinking the same McMD! I loved the people staff when I was there IN PERSON, but as far as mailing/calling goes, I don't trust them. When I sent in my paperwork for my acceptance, I sent it certified mail and made them sign it!!!

I haven't sent an LOI, but I did send updated transcripts, I hope they received them. They didn't notify me of anything, then again they didn't send an email when my file was complete either...lol I'm not sure if i should still try to send an LOI though? What are you guys planning on doing?

I thought they already held the meeting for hold applicants, so I'm not sure there's anything else to do but wait. I'm curious about the info. TrulyBlessed posted a few pages back about us being ranked before our interviews though. I wonder if we could find out our rank and what it means.

When I called they told me that the ADCOMM has not met yet. I think they are waiting until after the early orientation before they have the final meeting. I also asked about the ranking system and she said that we are not ranked yet.

I also asked the same question and they told me that the list would no be ranked. Also, they told me that they had handed enough acceptances to fill the class but that the applicants on hold still had a chance given that some applicants with multiple acceptances would decide to decline their acceptance at FSU. That's right, our acceptance depends on other people dropping, but what can you do. I think it's possible that a good 20 accepted applicants would decide to decline ...so, there is still a light at the end of the tunnel.

Our Admissions Committee will be reviewing all applicants placed on the hold list since interviews have been completed. The committee will fill the remaining seats in the class and create the alternate list which will be used to fill seats as applicants withdraw due to multiple acceptances. This process may continue until the day classes begin. All applicants will receive notification once the process is completed.

So this implies to me that the class isnt full, and those on hold will fill up the class, while the remainder will be put on the alternate list?? i have no freaking clue lol! Also, this was emailed to me April 10th, so it wasn't too long ago.

Is anyone on pre-interview hold? Since they wrapped up interviews last month, this means that people in that category are rejected, correct? I can't get a clear answer.

Well, as for the standard email they send (one of the posters posted above), they mention they're looking at those on hold...do they mean post-interview hold?

I'm sooo confused.

I went to the early orientation yesterday and Dr. Eveland clarified that indeed because FSU is an early start school, students with mutliple acceptances had to make a decision by April 15. There should now be lots of movement. Best of luck to you all.

I didnt' hear anything about an extention on the April 15th deadline. I hope I didn't hear wrong. Can anyone out there verify this?

Orientation was okay. The best part was lunch with the Med students and the Q and A with Dr. Eveland and the other med students. I was also able to look for apartments that weekend. Just a few presentations on Financial Aid, Housing, Summer Doctoring and Anatomy. We finished early, and there was a lot of "empty" time inbetween presentations.

I do not remember hearing any mention of an April 15th extension. I do remember Dr. Eveland talking about April 15th- in reguards to dropping down to one acceptance.
