At my school they said that work can be considered an EC only if you work part time. If you have a full time job it cannot be considered an EC. I'm not saying this is universal but I was wondering if anyone else has heard this before?

...this is unrepentant BS. You can absolutely put that on AMCAS.

I agree with you, it seemed a bit crazy to me. This was coming straight from the dean of admissions at a conference. I don't doubt that you can list that on your AMCAS. I guess they saw a full time job more of a necessity and a part time job as a choice, making it a EC. I do think that what the school accepts and what an AMCAS accepts differs though.

Where the hell would you put work?

I work 40+ hours..that is definitely going in there!!!!

ridiculous. of course it goes on AMCAS just like anything else.

Ah, well, see that's why the section is conveniently named "activities."😀

Echoing this just for emphasis. I really hope you didn't hear this garbage from an advisor.

Haha, I totally know what you guys mean, it does sound like BS for sure. That's why I was compelled to share. Coming from much better source then an advisor.
