Hi, everyone. I have a very dear family friend, Tanya, who was diagnosed 4 years ago with breast cancer after giving birth to her fourth child. Tanya who is only 44, fought her battle with breast cancer, and went into full remission. She went for her regular check-ups and followed her doctor's orders. However, five months ago she developed bone pain and headaches and begged the doctors to do the full workup for recurrence of her breast cancer. The doctors performed a physical examination and concluded it benign. Thus, they refused to send her for a brain and abdomen MRI due to her HMO coverage. The pain did not recess and eventually debilitated her to the point she could not perform her normal daily activities. Earlier this month, Tanya was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer confirmed with breast and nodal biopsy. She is currently receiving palliative care to make her as comfortable as possible, however her physicians believe that she can benefit from intensive chemotherapy and radiation which family cannot afford. With their accruing medical bills adding up every day, their financial troubles only worsened when Tanya's husband, Eduard, took a leave from work to take care of the Tanya and their 4 children. Sadly their small savings was completely depleted last time she fought this battle. Financing food preparation, childcare, and other daily activities are even difficult. Making ends meet is a daily dilemma that is only adding to this family's frustration and heartache.

I need any fundraising ideas anyone has to help out this family in need. Any ideas are good ideas!

There are countless things that you can do to raise money for any cause! Here is one idea that will definitely get you some quick cash!

Which classes do you have a practical for? Set up a "Mock Practical" for any of these courses (anatomy, clinical medicine, OMM, histology, etc.) and charge $10 for admission. This price can be set higher if you warrant a just cause to the class (100 students at $20 = $2,000; 150 students at $20 = $3,000). For histology this can be incredibly easy, but for anatomy, OMM, or clinical medicine it will require at least 3-5 people and the entire use of the lab. Don't hesitate to talk with your professors for previous exams or additional help with this!
