Future Fellowship Length?

I did a quick search and had a hard time finding this information, so I'd appreciate any input...

I am going to start anesthesia residency (R1) this year ('07) and am interested in doing a pain fellowship ('11). I have heard from a few people while on the residency interview trail who said that pain fellowships will soon (within the next few years) be required to be TWO years in length. Is this all rumors, or is there merit to these claims?

Here's to hoping that fellowship training is one year long through 2011!

The fellowship directors, anesthesia program directors, and deans cannot agree on changes at this time, so it remains at 1 year. But who knows...perhaps we will have 10 year fellowships by that time ;-)
