A dog's purpose was terrible enough...

I... actually kinda liked that movie. I really liked the book so I kinda liked it. Plus Josh Gad makes me laugh.

That being said, I’m a sucker for any dog based movie, especially one with that concept.

That’s the part of the book they didn’t clearly emphasize in the movie. While it was just one dog, you see this dog go through different lives and learn different things. I don’t think they even showed the first life- the dog was originally a street dog who got taken in with a hoarding situation.

Basically, the thing they didn’t show is that the dog really did love all of its owners- there was multiple, the hoarder, the boy, the student, the police officer, and the drug addict etc, and every life taught him something new. So he viewed the boy as his first love, but in the books, the dog was devoted to all of them. But he used everything he learned (how to escape as a stray, how to find as a SAR dog) to go back to his first love after being abandoned by the drug addict.

I think they kept it as one dog to keep with the idea of reincarnation.

As the living will - perhaps - figure out soon enough, this game began with no power roles at all. Every player in the game is a "period" at this time, and thus every person in the game has the potential to end their current thought... and begin another.

The dead may distribute five roles to the players of their choice. The selection must begin today (please have your selection done by lynch close), and then proceed one role/day until all roles are in play.

Your options are:

... - Avoid one attempt on their life (either lynch or night kill)
‽ - Jailkeeper ability (block/protect) nightly.
# - Connect people! (PM privately with one person) per cycle.
* - Action seering. May investigate one person to see if they're able to perform any night actions (including wolf kills) nightly.
> - One-shot day vigilante; may shoot and kill one individual during a day cycle.

I’m going to make a game called “WWhy?” and it’s basically going to be filled with things to confuse everyone (in a good way).

Everyone has to change their avatar to the same picture, wolves are villagers and villagers are wolves. Chaos is around. It’s gonna be fun

If this actually happens, someone come drag me off FB, Twitter, Instagram, (wherever sad broken people hang out other than with good people) and make me play.

1. a speed game (forum-based) - completes in one evening... maybe 2-4 hours total
2. a speed game (IRC real-time chat based) - completes in one evening
3. a regular game (IRC real-time chat based) - completes in the usual Day/Night cycle as forum games, but people open up chat each time instead of a forum thread
4. a ridiculously glacially slow game (forum-based) - completes over 4-5 months (e.g. an academic term). people will totally forget who/what/why/when. lots of subbing out.
5. a speed game (group voice chat) - completes in one evening - yay for tone of voice shenanigans
6. a speed game (group video chat) - completes in one evening - yay for tone of voice + nonverbal shenanigans. Potentially do a "shy" version with masks/bandanas/sunglasses/hoodies/make-up for the super shy

TBH, I think I'll host a Lounge Telephone Pictionary (TP) game again just to try out some Proof of Concepts before even thinking about modding a WW game, which is 1000x more involved.

Also, some of the formats like real-time chat and certainly voice chat or video chat could complete in 1 hour or less if a Basics game (easily!) depending on # of players/mechanics/roles and day-night cycle. And degree of hydration. Hmm, maybe more than 1 hour if people fite.

Hypothetically, #2 (real-time chat) I could set up security and multiple chatrooms -- main game + silenced tots/subs, dedicated wolf chat, dedicated mod chat, dedicated PR chat, dedicated dead chat, etc. -- in an hour or two of Keep It Simple work, then I'd just have to design the theme of the game and roles. I bet I could do design, setup, and testing in 4-8 hours, and I know Lounge has done chat werewolf before -- dunno about pre-vet.

Voice chat WW both excites and terrifies me, but that's what makes me wanna do it. It gets people out of their comfort zones and offers a new angle to the game.

Video chat is dependent on successful voice chat WW games being done and is the most extreme/terrifying/FUN option, especially if people dress or act the role or just plain make faces and gestures at each other and get good "reads."

I'd also have to consider logging/preservation of the games for posterity. Logging in chat is easy and built-in, and I could upload the text file or copy-paste to an SDN forum thread for safekeeping. I could hypothetically maybe launch a game summer 2019.

Voice and video chat I'd want to make sure I don't breach ethics and would want everybody's buy-in for 1) recording; and 2) sharing in pre-vet/SDN for safekeeping. I also don't have the infrastructure/time to do voice or video until late 2019 or 2020, plus game design for a real-time WW game is different than forum-based, I think.
