Hey everyone!

I start my fist FW2 in a few weeks in an acute care setting (which I’m excited but nervous about). I’m currently making a list of information that I am going to review. Although I’ve asked my CI hasn’t given me much help/guidance yet and I’m assuming I won’t get more information until my first day. Does anyone who has done a FW2 in an acute care setting have any tips/information how to better prepare and make this experience awesome?
Thanks in advance!

Keep the patient safe is number 1! Everything else will fall into place. Be ready to learn. You have to be extremely flexible because rehab generally is low priority in acute care- roll with the punches.

- Precautions/ contraindications: hip, sternal, spinal cord,
- line management
- evaluation/assessment: ROM, MMT, screen for cognition, vision, sensory, ADLs.
- ask where and what where they doing before?
- Anticipate if inpatient vs SNF vs home health vs outpatient would be appropriate.
