Anyone heard anything or has made a call to get some information.

You didn't get the memo? Damn! Well, we nominated you since you only have 16 posts on this site!

🙂

I also had an MCG nightmare...I was leaving the admisions office or something and like, for no reason, my clothes were getting all disshevelled and I was trying to get out before anybody saw me...very weird.

Oh, and if/when I get rejected I will post immediately. Let's hope we're all getting the thick(er) envelope soon!

Hello all...I just got off from work and wanted to type an update. One of my co-workers received his rejection letter today (well, 3 April) from MCG. He lives here in Augusta, as do I. I'm still waiting to find out if I'm in, out, or on the waitlist. I interviewed at MCG but he did not.

well if he didnt get an interview he was obviously rejected anyways.

Well yes, but the point is is that he was officially notified yesterday. I assume others will be notified now soon regardless.

I guess. Well I am in your shoes. I was interviewed and have not heard back yet. I am in the dark too.

Weird that it took that long without an interview...then again, Loyola hasn't rejected me yet.

Funny you should mention that!!! I JUST received the Loyola rejection 30 min. ago. Did take a long time though. Maybe yours is in the mail.

No mail from Mercer today.

Yeah, UAB just rejected me pre-interview a week ago, and I considered that a de facto rejection, but thanks, nice to know they aren't sitting on their hands over there.

Yeah I just recieved an interview with the University of Tennessee. Just when I thought I was done, lol.

Well... nothing from med schools in the mail today. Monday? Tuesday??

My fellow Georgians: Can I get your honest opinion here?

I had a 3.2 GPA undergrad with a BS in Info technology. I have over 6 years experience in the medical laboratory, mostly in military hospitals. Currently I have 4.0 GPA post-bac and I should be done with all the pre-reqs by the end of this semester. I take the MCAT on May 31, and turn in my AMCAS this June.

My goal and dream to to practice military medicine/clinical pathology.

I plan to only apply to the following schools:

USUHS(my #1 choice)
Mercer
MCG
Emory(reach)
Morehouse
PECOM
Kansas University (I love this school!)
George Washington University (I am an alumni)

If I don't get in to any of these schools, I plan to go back to Active Duty in the US Army. So that is my plan, what do you all think? I would love to get some of your opinions or advice or anything. Thank you!

Do well on the MCAT and you might have a shot.

Apply early, make sure your LOR are sent in early & are strong, visit the schools in person.

Have you considered LECOM-Bradenton (Fl)? It might be another school to add to you list.:luck::luck::luck:

MCG ADCOM on spring break????

MCG is really taking their sweet time. Its freaking april now, and no one has received any news?

Nada here. Though I think like someone else mentioned last year it was around april 30th when I got my alternate list letter. So it could conceivably be a few more weeks.

Last year they sent us a letter in March saying they were ~2 weeks behind. Normally, the acceptances are out and received by now. Waitlist letters get to us in the next week or two.

I've never seen it this quiet and this is my 3rd cycle in 4 years.

I called on Tuesday and got an e-mail reply back from MCG saying that all applicants should know their status by mid-April, so I'm guessing this week or the next we should expect some news.

what an unusual year...

I interviewed in February and admissions told us we'd all know by 15 April. It's possible we will, although, with Masters next week, I'm not convinced. I imagine the office takes spring break along with the student body...

I'm in Augusta too and thought that any mail sent out from MCG Friday would reach me by Saturday. Only BigLots and KMart flyers today in the mail though 🙁

Hello. First, best of luck with the application process. It's a long and time-consuming one, but ultimately very rewarding. I was in a similar situation as you (military background). My best recommendation is to link back up with your undergrad pre-med office (ie have them collect and consolidate your recommendation letters). Also, talk to admissions personnel about your chances at your top schools. I, for example, set up a meeting with the folks at the Uniformed Services Univ. in Bethesda and at UVa and some others prior to applying. They'll tell you honestly your chances for this year and if not this year, what you can do to improve for the next cycle. It's hard going on your own without the support of your undergrad pre-med office or at least available and knowledgeable professors/counselors who routinely advise and recommend medical school applicants.

I know your post-bac work will certainly help you. Will you earn a Master's degree? I found that a MS goes a long way--esp. when your undergrad GPA is lower than the average applicant. Of course, MCAT performance is important and especially important for applicants like us who've been out of the classroom for a while. Good luck on the test--the comuter version is nicer (and shorter) than the written!

not that this is a valid indication of whether or not acceptances have been sent out, but the mcg class of 2012 facebook group has had relatively the same number of members for the past few weeks. i think only 4 or 5 people have added over the past month (yes i'm a SDN lurker and FB stalker..i live a sad life. hah!). so maybe all the acceptances haven't gone out yet. plus, the group only has like 60 peeps...i doubt that there are 120+ people out there who don't use facebook/are holding multiple acceptances and haven't decided on mcg. i could be wrong, though. i'm prob just being too hopeful.

 I thought that was funny. Neither do we, so no worries 🙂

But as for your point I'm not sure it holds up. Would be nice, but it's pretty random how many people have facebook and use it regularly and would even think to join the group. I'm a member of the UT-houston '12 group and I know the class is full (maybe a bit over 230 people), and the group only has about 100 members. But then who knows!

So today is Sunday, April 6, and I have a feeling that I will receive mail from MCG this week.

I can just feel it.

I'm going to be getting an acceptance letter this week from MCG.

I'm sitting on an acceptance to Mercer's Savannah campus.

I had a PCOM acceptance too, but I canceled it.

I called MCG few min. back and they told me that the final batch of mail was sent friday of last week.
So start stalking mail man.

Final batch? When was the first! lol.. On a more serious note, is this the last batch period (so we all should hear) or is this just the last batch of acceptances?

That's right

Everything was mailed last friday.
i.e. all decisions are sent.

Look for mail. That's all we can do.

I take it that no one has seen any mail from Mercer yet either?
I know I haven't.

So not that it really matters...but, if they went out on Friday I would have expected Augusta residence to get it by Saturday or Monday at the latest.

I'm itching to get news of these letters going out and about 3 "mail days" from Augusta and Macon.

All right well...uh...I think I need to go ahead and get some mail from MCG now.

I mean, I'm ready for it.

Anyone think MCG is saying whatever they think the student wants to hear?
That, or the mail from MCG is really, really slow.

I gotta be straight up with you guys for a second and say that this has been the longest, most drawn out process of my life.

I've been done everywhere else for so long (relatively speaking), but for some reason MCG is outrageously slow with this.

Jeez man, what is the deal?

Does this have any sort of implications to med school itself there?

I hope not.

I have had this thought before... lets hope it is just due to their small staff and large class size.

Even if they sent them out Friday, they may not have made the final pickup time for that day and went out on Saturday instead. Considering the massive bulk of letters that probably went out, not all may have been processed at the same time either.

This has been a rough week for me already. My sister passed away this weekend and all I want is some happy news.

Oh wow. Really sorry to hear that. How old was she?

I got this information from Mercer today:
"The acceptances have all gone out. The letters for the Wait-List will go out by First-Class mail by the end of this week."

Good luck to everyone!:luck:

I have a family member in her second year at MCG, plus my neighbor is a plastic surgeon that went to MCG.

And they both say it's always like this.

I personally went through a premed summer program there, and I had a terrible experience there myself.

One of my friend who lives in augusta recieved mail today i.e. tuesday from MCG

What kind of news was it (acceptance, waitlist, or rejection)?

I didn't even apply this year and you guys are freaking me out. As much as I can't wait to apply, I don't envy the anxiety at all.
