Does anyone know how Mercer contacted those who were waiting this time last year? Will we get a phone call tonight if accepted or rejected? Or will we have to wait for a letter? What about the wait list... will they send a letter or call?

I wonder how many people will be rejected vs. placed on the wait list at this point. Especially those of us that they have held onto for MONTHS.

Definitely a nerve-wracking night if we are waiting for phone calls that may not come!

I was waitlisted last year at Mercer and I got a letter on April 4th. It's my understanding that if you get accepted, you may get a call. Since this is their only real meeting this month I'm expecting a lot of acceptances. So, we may get a call tonight or tomorrow if we're lucky enough to get the offer.

If you get waitlisted or rejected.. there will be no phone call.

It was my understanding that in this round, some people would not get telephone calls and would only receive letters-no?

Any idea how many seats are up for grabs?

No idea on the seats available. However, Mrs Putnam said that the ADCOM members generally call the students. In some circumstances, she will make the call.

I have heard about people getting a letter and not a phone call. So, I guess it can happen all three ways!

Good luck over the next 6 hours.

Did anyone interview at Mercer yesterday and if so do you have some juicy information for us?

Good luck everyone applying to Mercer.:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:

Hopefully we all get that call tonight or tomorrow from a number beginning with 478

You know,

These days get me thinking about how much I would like a status page for both of these schools. Imagine how much more fun this would be if when your file had a decision on it, you got an email to log into your status page.

Work is so slow today.

I've gotten nothing done at work today.

Fates are being decided as we speak. As I said before, I really feel like there should be more transparency in this process...I guess this is like a rite of passage though

It's totally up to the Adcom member that interviewed you. So if your interviewer seemed like the type who would call you, then you probably would get a call this evening. But don't freak out if you don't get a phone call tonight, it may happen tomorrow or they may just send the certified letter instead.

The last meeting for acceptances for mercer is today at five! I'm nervous.

I'm really curious as to how these meetings go. I know there's a lot of rankings (both interviews, students, staff, etc) and that you get a total score based on these. Then, they look at GPA, LORs, etc and give you a final number.

Do they just walk in at 5pm and say, ok... we have 8 places left for admissions... Who has the highest total points.. lets take the first 8?

It seems that they have not met in a few weeks and are going to do the last admsissions + waitlist in a single meeting. Is that right?

Mrs. Putnum told me that they are doing the final acceptances tonight and then determining the waitlist next week.

As for the rankings..... I have no clue how they decide.

When we all get pwnage and acceptance (hopefully)

I really feel that students at Mercer should make a push for transparency. I'll not forget how I feel today. This cycle is unnecessary and makes for loss of productivity for everyone.

This is the whole problem with the process-how are we reviewed? What order?

I interviewed and was told that the earliest meeting I would (probably) be reviewed at was the 6th of Feb.. I was told that both of my interviewers really liked me, and my interviewers themselves said I got the highest marks.

I could have been brought up on 2/20, or 3/5. In what order are people brought up? This seems a mystery to me. I am sure it is some combination of grades/MCAT/and interview score (as alluded to by GAdoc). No one really knows.

They told us at my interview day that they had to keep space available for the very last interviewees. So they could have easily tabled a lot of people for tonight's meeting.

Tic-toc, tic-toc, ...

Anyone have any hair left?

Good luck to you all.

If we don't make it, there is always the beach.. say someplace like SGU, Ross, AUC?

I spoke with a 1st-year at Emory last night and he told me that he thought that over half of his class were multi-year applicants. I doubt it is that high but the very thought of repeating this process has absolutely NO appeal. However, I am a glutent for punishment and will do it if I have to.

As a repeat offender.. I can vouch for around that number. I've heard from ADCOMs that it's anywhere between 30% and 50% depending on the year. Hopefully I won't have to do any more time

So it's about that time, anyone hear anything???

Even if I get a mercer acceptance I'm pretty definitively not going, but I'm still nervous

Nothing yet. Checked the phone, ringer, power, tone... ready to answer!

Just waiting for that 478 prefix to show up.

From what I understand and what was explained at my interview (I think, lol) is they use the rankings to prioritize candidates and then they take the top ones and vote on whether to accept them or not. If they vote to accept they are accepted. So you are not instantly accepted if you are ranked highly.

Still no news from MCG...I interviewed on Nov. 16 and then...silence anyone else waiting on MCG?

My buddy is waiting on MCG and Mercer. I think he has a good shot at both but he will take Mercer if given the chance.

My phone rang a couple of minutes ago... couldn't believe she wanted to talk with my wife!!! :boom:Doesn't that woman know to stay off of my phone line? LOL.

At 8 I give up hope for the evening. Maybe tomorrow???😕

Considering the nature of this meeting and the (apparent) lack of acceptance calls before it, don't be shocked if it's a very long meeting. The phone calls just might go out tomorrow instead.

you guys went over 1000 without me! 🙁 How could you?

For MCG acceptees, we all just got the email telling us what our MCG login/email/pulse accounts will be, but the number of people trying to log on has crashed the system. 😡 But at least they contacted us! I was starting to wonder whether they remembered that they had accepted me or if it was a mistake.

Good luck everyone 👍

Oh dear... do you think that email was sent to everyone being accepted, regardless of when their letter of acceptance was mailed out?

Yes, I'm not worried yet either (well not too worried!)

just make sure that you post if you hear!

Yeah, you would have thought somebody on here would have heard something. I'd give it at least another day or so. Are we sure they had the meeting yesterday yet? Some brave soul want to call Ms. Putnam? 🙂

Well as it was mentioned earlier, they probably had a late night and did not call anyone. I agree, Someone from this site has to make it. If they were going to cut us outright they would have done so after our interview. They wouldn't have held onto us for months if we weren't a consideration anymore. I could be wrong.

Wouldn't it be nice to have one of the past 4th-year student admissions committee members post here?

I suspect that some people may be called today. I hope!

Keep those fingers/toes/legs/eyes crossed and those prayer candles lit! Maybe today...

Mercer doesn't reject/waitlist until next week though.

I am sure those who have yet to be accepted don't have an email or anything... 🙄

but if you have already been accepted and didn't get anything... I would call.

I haven't heard anything from Mercer either. Maybe they had a lot more work to do then they thought. Someone should make that brave call under an alias name!

hehehee

:hardy:

PS. So I don't live in the EST time zone atm. Last night, at 2am EST and at 8am EST, I got an "unknown" call on my cell phone. I woke up, ran to my phone, and said hello... Then, I got serenaded by some mid 80s song, then someone said... "You've been prank called by prankcall.com" or something to that effect. Talk about bad timing. Especially on the 8:15 EST one.

oh the humanity! 🙂

With all the crazy premeds out there pulling out their hair every night (and seeing how we know when all of the meetings are) I'm surprised there aren't a few stories about premeds crashing the AdCom Meetings 😱

That's funny.

As stated in an earlier post, an inhumane process resulting in a lack of productivity and decrease in quality of life for applicants.

I'm not even sure if I should expect a phone call or simply an acceptance/waitlist/rejection letter as I'm not convinced everyone is called at this stage of the game. My interviewer didn't seem like the type to make phone calls!

You're probably right. Our interview group was told that calling accepted candidates is a "courtesy," not necessarily a part of the protocol. So we all may just get the thick envelope or the thin one in the mail.
