Good to hear students still have time to game. Played WoW when it first came out til last year, and don't plan on being back. Mostly playing on my xbox right now, but I'll probably pick up Diablo 3 when it comes out.

I'll definitely pick Diablo 3 up. The Diablo series is great to either pickup and hack n slash for 15 minutes or 6 hours. I'm guessing I'll be spending more of the former since school will have started by the time it comes out.

Yay Diablo 3!!!! I got to play a bit of it at Blizzcon in 2009. I can't wait for it to come out!

D2 destroyed my time in high school.

Even made some money off it back when ebay hadn't banned the sale of game items.

They banned the sale of inflated dollar game accounts, but not the time it took to level one up. 😉

I had a period when I would buy and sell game accounts. It made me enough money to pay for a semester of college and books in about a month and a half. People still do it, but the profit isn't as good as it once was, so unless you're doing volume or selling your independent game account it's just not worth it.

I'm not sure about the diablo series but at least in mmorpgs like wow, there are a lot of programs you can manipulate to level up a character for you from basically 1-85 with minimal time actually spent playing (about 5 hours of my time to get to 85). The tricky part is not to get the account banned by blizzard... And once you hit the max level you can either can sell the account or just have it farm items/gold all day and sell those. Ruined one of my laptops doing that though when I had 5 different accounts playing at the same for 3 months solid (fried the cpu/mobo). Decent cash for how little time is needed once you get past the learning curve of it (and perfect for the undergraduate as you just watch them while your studying to make sure no one starts randomly running into walls). Plus, who doesn't love having over 1 million gold on multiple servers🙂

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was probably the virus package included with your program that fried the laptop, moreso than having 5 instances of a game that is 8 years old running.

It could have been a virus, but it was always at 100% cpu load (I never installed a cpu temp monitor though). Even though wow is a pretty old game it does still eats up a lot of resources. The program I was using was called glider, its pretty legitimate with over 10,000 active accounts back in its prime but some of the template scripts I downloaded could have potential viruses in them I suppose.

Nice. Gotta love the farmers... *waves fist in anger*!!! haha

Block exams are over so I will be spending all night playing League of Legends instead of studying renal physiology, just friendslist add me or PM me if you want to que up 😛

Don't believe that crap! You will have plenty of time to game in med school. I typically get 1-2 hours in a day and thats during the busy time, and I still have plenty of time to do other stuff like work out, study, and party. My favorite game is COD: Black OPS right now, but donkey kong on the wii is a close second!

The new DK is so badass...

I'm bringing my PS3 to med school then 😀.

I'm so excited about Zelda OoT being remade for the 3DS :soexcited:

I'll be bringing my Xbox and my old N64 for some classic Smash Bros

Worst part about gross anatomy next year?

Necromorphs. 🙁

I wonder if they'll release a new Super Smash on wii or will brawl be it for this console.

Half-Life 2 (and all of the Orange Box), Neverwinter Nights 1/2 and of course, Dungeons and Dragons. ^_^

Gaaaaaah dead space! I downloaded the dead space 2 demo having never played the original and got hooked. I'm waiting for the price of 2 to go down a little before I pick it up but in the meantime have become totally engrossed by the universe. Netflixed those (awful) animated features, am on my second play through of the original, all that. The gf is getting downright sick of it.

Eew. Thanks for that.

Oh my...this thread is awesome!! Personally I'm currently addicted to COD Black OPs. I'm not gonna lie, I've already prestiged a couple of times and plan on continuing...HA! Glad theres med students out there that make time for the important things in life...haha. Gaming nerds UNITE!!!

If anyone is picking up Killzone 3 today please post a bit of a multiplayer review if you get the time.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Portal 2 so far. Anyone pre-order it yet? Really looking forward to the CTI: Cooperative Testing Initiative 🙂

Also, you save $5 if you buy off of steam as supposed to EA/Newegg, etc.

Just a random thought. Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is going to be the reason I can never be a physiatrist. My neuromuscular test is monday and it doesnt stand a chance against the opportunity to have Albert Wesker, Dr. Doom and Akuma face off against Spiderman, Deadpool and Dante from Devil May Cry.

Anyone have good RPG suggestions for PC? I really liked the combat style in Dragon Age (really looking forward to DAII! The demo has been pretty awesome so far!) but I've never really been into the D&D stuff. I've played a bit of NWN and NWN2 and didn't really enjoy the combat as much. I'm trying to play through Baldur's Gate II: SoA right now and while I think the story and everything is great, I'm just not enjoying the combat system as much (blasphemy, I know). I'm thinking of starting up NWN again to see if I get more mileage out of it this time.

So anybody have any good RPG recommendations? I've already played ME1 and ME2 on my 360 and I'm looking forward to DAII (and Diablo 3, even though I've only played a little bit of Diablo and Diablo 2), along with The Old Republic (which I'm not sure if I want to get into or not...loved the KOTOR games though).

The witcher. The game does take about 3 or more hours to really get "into". You just feel disoriented by how big everything is until an hour into the second quest. But once you get there, the game is amazingly addictive. And this game is the current perfection of every little action and decision changing what you can do later. To the point where (at the risk of spoiling things) the final boss's entire reasoning for why he does things varies in significant ways based on comments you make to ancillary characters. And snap decisions you make at early points in the game decide who is alive, who you'll meet, and what options are available later in the game. Decisions matter a ton in this game.

Oh and the combat system is pretty unique being a very 'western' style fighting system but with a small rhythm element.

Good suggestion. I actually already finished that game a while back and really enjoyed it (I especially liked that the big choices you make aren't good vs. bad, but have a lot of shades of gray in between)! 🙂

Those of you with an iphone should try out "Tiny Wings". Soooooooo addicting

Picked up Starcraft II yesterday after deciding I really need a strategy/competitive heavy game but I never played scI so all the units/abilities are a bit daunting right now (I did play every age of empires series for a long time so I am familiar with rts's and the need to hotkey everything though). Anyone here have a battlenet account that wants to play some games together and give me some basic pointers🙂? (I am a pretty quick learner with these games and I am studying the units heavily so I might give you a good game after a few practice rounds)

Yeah definitely pick up fallout 3 GOTY it's my favorite rpg next to mass effect. New vegas was great as well.

Haha hopefully dead space will help us in Necromorph A&P. Btw has anyone seen the Dead Island trailer? It's epic to say the least: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ialZcLaI17Y

The Dead Island trailer is awesome! That game could be hit or miss, but if it is anything like the trailer I will be all over it.

Yeah true, same here I'm such a sucker for zombies. A game like CoD: WaW was pretty good, then I discovered Nazi Zombies which imo was more fun than the regular campaign.

Thanks. I've played Fallout 3 as well heh, but I didn't find it as fun to play as I was hoping. So I didn't get New Vegas.

I'm looking forward to DA:II coming out in 2 weeks (the demo was pretty fun to play). And we've got the The Witcher 2 to look forward to this summer! Can't wait till ME3 either. I think this year will be pretty good for RPGs! 🙂

I'm going to be all over this on March 8th.

The developers flat out stated that they took the best of Call of Duty and Battlefield, mixed in with a few of their own additions, to make this game. I can't wait!

That looks awesome! Haven't even heard of it, I was hoping the new Medal of Honor was going to be good but it turned out to be a dud supposedly. Hopefully this is good 👍

Anyone ever played Day of Defeat the half life mod?

Yeah DA:II looks awesome, I have the first one staring at me right now but it's waiting for me to finish hard core mode on dead space 2.

This summer/fall is going to be awesome, so many good games.

It's like LA confidential/double indemnity/chinatown the game.... 😍

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is my new favorite game ever. Bought Batam Arkham Assylum ayear ana half ago and only started playing it yesterday. Looks pretty cool.

Yeah I didn't find Fallout 3 that fun at all. But I love New Vegas, it feels much more like the original Fallout games. I'm looking forward to DA2 as well, my goodness, it comes out tomorrow!

You still use glider? Man, those were the days. Setting up glider and pather to quest and do bg's was more addicting than the game itself. Nothing like waking up in the morning to 3 new levels (or in the middle of the night to a tell alert 😱).

And to all the bot haters in WoW, who are the one's crying when prices in the AH skyrocket after a ban wave?!

Ok off my soap box.

I wish I could still use glider. After that huge lawsuit was finished, they took the glider servers down and I just sorta stopped after that. There are/were plenty of other bots but nothing that looked nearly as easy or as good as glider did. And I agree with you that botting was even more addicting than actually playing the game regularly, which is something to say for WoW. I was always too scared to actually use glider/pather in bg's though. I strictly used it for leveling up to max and then farming for items/gold in remote areas. It was always very tempting to go into bgs though especially once they let you buy the epic gems from honor points.

Anyone gonna pick up Star Wars: The Old Republic? I quit WoW and all MMOs already cause I know I won't have time to play them in school, but this one game intrigues me. I'm just afraid I'd turn to my undergrad self and play 15-16 hrs a day.
