Oh man, Battlefield 3 on PS3 is pretty sick. I'm one of those scumbag MAV abusers that get 10.0 KD ratio for funsies.
 
Ok I am on xbox and I started sniping doing really well, but those mavs mess me up yet everytime I try to kill I fail. How do I do it? I can't figure out how others are successful.
 
I don't game anymore but I used to own a LAN Center and I played Counter-Strike competitively for years in my teens. I played in tournaments in DC, Miami, Dallas, Toronto, Atlanta, Charlotte, LA, among others. our team won $10k once at a tournament for placing 13th out of hundreds - top prize was $150k.

I've always been a FPS kinda guy but I also played WoW for awhile. Really a lot of fun if you find a group to play with who are laid back. I used to play battlegrounds all the time with an EM resident. He would play on his laptop in the call room and from home.

I never could latch on to console games at all. Bought a 360 a couple years back and used it for Netflix more than anything.

I don't miss anything but competitive counter-strike...that **** was intense. As much a sport in terms of competition and mental challenge as anything else!

I love CS... I still play it every so often.

I used to play this game called Star Wars: Jedi Academy and eventually worked my way up the ranks in a clan to become a council member. I played this game for so many hours each day for like 3-4 years. This was back in high school though... These were good times! haha...

Man I'm lame. 🙄

Haha, just fly parallel to the ground at top speed and go through 'em.

I remember the good old days of CS 1.6... perusing the IRC channels of #findscrim and good old "mm2 please" when the other team starts raging. Griefing in WoW was also a good past time. The games themselves were alright, but it really was the camaraderie between fellow friends on Ventrillo that made it so darn nostalgic.

Totally agree. This is why I loved that jedi academy game so darn much.

I still talk to a lot of the guys I played counter-strike with - albeit on Facebook and not IRC!
 
Is anyone going to be picking up Mass Effect 3 in a few weeks? I definitely will. I haven't really been gaming much since I became sick of Skyrim about a month ago, but I will be making up for that once I purchase Mass Effect 3.

Almost done with Skyward Sword!!!! I've been playing it for like a month and a half, so I'm pretty pumped to have completed it. Between work and stuff, I'm hoping to be done (and I mean completely done, with ALL upgrades and mini missions completed) within the next two weeks.

It looks pretty sweet and I will probably renew my X-box live subscription after letting it slip for the last 2 years because of it. The thing that kinda erks me though is that if you don't play the multiplayer it supposedly can effect the overall outcome of your campaign, so hopefully you can play it as a single player with bots filling in for the other squadmates. Otherwise it would be pretty annoying to have 3 games worth of stuff unhinged because you can't find 3 other people to play.

$150K for playing a video game???? I should have continued playing video games instead of migrating to sports in high school.
 
I'm pretty sure the top Starcraft players right now make a decent living. It's the number one sport in S Korea (literally)

Ah Starcraft. I made a montage with my friends before I quit (the Zerg).. good times. One day, med schools will accept gaming feats/console trophies as part of special skills and awards, I just know it!

Gears of war 3 (actually takes skill to play unlike CoD), D3 Beta...soon to be released. Should get a solid month to play b4 school starts. I've weened myself off MMOs and quite honestly after the WoW wave they all seems pretty lame. SC2 is great.

I was hardcore competitive with RTCW:ET and you're right, nothing compares to the thrill of competing on an FPS against the top players on the game. It's addicting as crap and when you go into pubs and lay out 95% head shots it makes you feel pretty sweet.

You have good taste in squadmates. I used Garrus and Wrex in ME1 (until I lost him at the end because I didn't have a high enough speech to calm him down). In ME2 I ran with Garrus and Samara. In ME3 I will be running with Garrus again.

I had a friend who lost Garrus in the final mission. I somehow got through the mission without losing anyone. Have you DLed the demo yet? I am about to go do it.

When are you on?? I know you work nights but you should play normal people hours, I never see you on.
 
ME3, played a little of the demo so this may be some spoilerz, but all I'm going to say is: I'm glad to have my trio back.
 
I almost played MW3 with LazyPanda tonight, but the party system didn't work 🙁 and I refuse playing a tease when I can have the real ME3 in a couple weeks! Who else had a fem Shep?

haha. if i do get on (which i haven't the past few days) it is usually about 5:30am until about 7am during the week (wed morn-sat morn) and then sat, sun, and/or mon evening. But late. like 10pm start. so either way early or way late.

The multiplayer is actually pretty fun. If you have some people to play with I would DL it.

Haha. Yea too bad we couldn't get it to work. I'm sure we will though this week. I pretty much have senioritis(accepted to med school... trudging through the boring last semester undergrad classes). So i will be playing a lot of MW3 on 360.. My gamertag is Lazypanda24x7 if anyone wants to join me ^_^.. just send me a message that says "SDN" when u add me so i know you arent a haxor stalkin me haha.
 
just got a free ps3! so.. i just got mw3, mortal kombat... etc.. but its not as good as super nintendo 🙂
 
I've known a guy in the same guild as me in World of Warcraft for several years now (lives about 30 minutes from me, we hang out a couple times a month), fairly competitive guild (top 250 US) that did medical school at Brown and is currently in residency for general surgery -- he's one of our main raiders and plays quite a bit of LoL and Black Ops with a lot of us.

Naturally we have to work our schedule around his quite a bit but fortunately we're all pretty flexible. His attending plays a lot of MW3 and Black Ops too and is adamant that FPS games make better surgeons, makes sense given the hand to eye coordination required in both.
 
I know it has been out for a while but who here liked Deus Ex: HR? I got it this summer, put it down and forgot about it. Found it again yesterday and I have to say I love it.
 
It was awesome until I realized halfway through the gameplay wasn't going to introduce any new elements and it just got really repetitive.
 
Guild Wars 2 beta out soon. Can't wait.
 
Battlefield 3 on the ps3 is my "go to" game. I had some great laughs with sniper trolling recently. I'd sneak up on a camping sniper and plant some c4 behind them before taunting them by standing in front of their scope. When they realized what was going on, BOOM lol. Ahh good times....
 
Yes you can game, have a social life and make it through medical school and residency. I am living proof! 😛

Here's to Diablo 3, ME 3, Skyrim, SWTOR, WoW and all the other awesome games coming out. Stay frosty gamers 😉 👍

BF3...I really sucked it up at first, but I can proudly (or should it be shamefully?) admit I've gotten a LOT better.
