Hello! So i’m a current applicant that was waitlisted at all the schools I interviewed at. I recently finished undergrad and have a pretty decent GPA and MCAT.
After thinking through my interviews, I definitely felt I lacked in /actual/ clinical experience and related stories, and because of this, probably sounded un-confident and uncertain.
I was recently employed at ScribeAmerica to try and buff up my clinical experiences. I actually really love the job despite many horror stories about the company online. I’m wondering in order to make my application for next year as well-rounded as it can be, are there any other activities I should try and get involved with? Thanks so much to anybody who answers!

I'd say clinical volunteering if you can do it.

Outside of that, enjoy time off. I did and I don't regret taking a good chuck of time off from college. Pick up a healthy habit if you don't have one yet; to carry yourself through medical school

Ahh I see, Ill look into volunteering at local clinics! I totally get what you mean, actually really glad I didn’t get in this cycle because I’m definitely enjoying the (much needed) time off as well! Picked up cooking/meal prep already for work, so hey that’ll hopefully help in the future. Thanks so much for your advice!

If you are not currently working full time, AmeriCorps is a great option!! I have been serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA during my gap year to build the capacity of a population health initiative and it has been a great experience.

Do some volunteering on the side and you should be golden. Try to get some experiences where you are the one interacting with the patient (as opposed to the doctor via scribing).
