Sounds like you're buying an application boost. I don't know how good it would look. Adcoms have mentioned in the past that they aren't nearly as impressed by overseas medical volunteering as many premeds might believe, unless it wasn't just a one time thing.
If you want to do it to see some things, go for it, but I doubt it will have any effect on your application.
