Assuming no changes in temperature, what is the volume of a gas sample at 1.00 atm if it occurs at 3.00 atm?

Answer is 3000mL

Maybe the wording is off to me, but I just can't seem to figure this question out. Usually the PV=nRT are pretty straight forward.

Did they give you an initial volume?
 
No initial volume was given. That's what threw me off. They (Achiever) assumed that the volume at 3.0atm was 1000mL.

I don't get it never if it IS assumed to be 1000 ml at 1. P and V are inversely related, so the volume should be divided by 3, not multiplied. Which question was this?


Edit: My bad this should be P1V1=P2V2
