Hello to All,

I was wondering if changing the grade basis for a GE, in my case: Psychology, reflect negatively in any way to pharm schools? I am not doing super poor by any means, but it's looking like a solid B and maybe a B+ in the end. It just kills me when I see A's and A-'s for science classes and then B's for GE's 😡. If I do go through with the grade change, this will be my first time doing it. Thanks.

You mean to do Pass/Fail? Some pharmacy schools say they won't accept Pass/Fail for prereqs and psychology is a prereq for many schools.

Can you replace grades that are lower than C- ? My university didn't let you do that without a C- or lower.
Also I think pharmcas averages your classes you've retaken with your old grades so I'm not sure it'll raise your gpa much.

I got a "C" in a class about the New Testament because I argued with the preacher professor, who treated it like Bible Study rather than an academic study of the subject matter. So when I gave answers critical of Christianity on the tests, he gave me bad grades.

When I interviewed for school, they asked me about it and I told them I'm not a member of that religion and was punished for it (which was true), and, if anything, would consider the teachings of Buddhism to be the most enlightened of the major religions (which I do, even though I don't consider Buddhism a religion.) I had to say that because you can't tell people you are an atheist. Especially in West Virgina. Outside of neo-Nazis, they are pretty much the most hated group in the country. But Buddhists...people like Buddhists. I like Buddhists.

Boom, got the C shrugged off and they considered me a religious minority...which will not hurt for admission...two birds, one stone. 👍 Got a 29.25/30 on the interview.

You got to figure out away to make it work for you.

Wouldn't opting for Pass/No Pass or Pass/Fail (whatever your school does) hurt you regardless? I'm not the admissions committee or anything, but I hear that they will directly assume that a P grade is like a C.

I came into this thread thinking that you were getting a D+/C- in basketweaving 101, not a B/B+ in psychology. Besides, a B is a pretty good grade in the overall scheme of things.

Also wanted to add that in college I took 2 classes as p/f one semester..(trying to maintain my gpa for honors..not sure now why I didn't just work harder 😕). I had read in the school's bulletin that you can do that for courses that aren't your major. Turns out if it was in your degree requirements at all that you aren't supposed to do that! I had to almost cry to my advisor to have him override it and let the classes count. So I wouldn't do it..it may seem like a good idea but it comes back to bite you somehow.
