geisinger vs albert einstein in philly?...how to rank?...what do you guys think??

Looking for strangers to decide for you is asinine. You need to decide for yourself. For some people, location is important and they don't want the small town where Geisinger is. Other people don't want the city where Einstein is. Plus the different programs themselves; the people; there are so many reasons to choose between programs. What is important to you? Is it location? Is it interpersonal relations? Is it money?

haha...sorry i was in a hurry when I posted so didnt think things through...this is for internal medicine...i have already decided on my rank list but I just wanted some extra insight because I wasn't able to get too much of a feel for the programs after interview. The main thing that concerns me about einstein is the location as its not very safe, otherwise the program seems solid, although underrated from what ive heard. Geisinger is huge with ample opportunities for research and fellowships, although the location is middle of nowhere which does bother me quite a bit. I myself as of now think I want to practice as a hospitalist after residency; Im open to the idea of fellowship although i don't feel passionate enough about any one specialty to pursue it further. So although I do not need to go to a program that is geared toward fellowships I would like to give them priority in case I change my mind. Im not asking people how they would rank the programs but any insights or comparisons of these programs would be appreciated...thanks!

i would rather not be in a rural setting, city is fine except einstein is in a bad area of town which is why im not too keen on it

Geisinger for fellowships and diverse patient pathology. I did several rotations there and really liked it. I matched at another program so I can be close to my wife but i would have went there in a heartbeat.

Don't live next to the hospital. Plenty of better areas in the philly area to live in.

It is too late now, but I second this advice. Plenty of people lived in Center City and took the Broad Street Line to Einstein.
