Hi SDN!

I am starting to pre-write some secondaries, and I have a question regarding the common "challenging experience" prompt. Some schools ask "what has been your most challenging experience" or "describe a personal challenge". Do you think in general it's okay to talk about an experience from high school? The lessons I learned from that experience was used somewhat throughout college, but the actual challenge occurred in high school. I know that we are supposed to stray away from high school in our PS and Work/Activities, so I was curious on what the consensus was on secondaries. Thanks!

I think it depends on what the experience was. If it was something really mundane, you might want to go with something more recent. However, if it was like recovering from a very serious car accident or something like that, then it is clearly your biggest challenge by far, and it wouldn't make sense to choose something else just because it happened a few years before college.

Thanks @nwts !! Mine dealt with some struggles I had with family so I think I'll have to consider whether or not it will be appropriate to talk about as well.
