From the experience of last two years, approximately when could I expect to receive the approval of H-1B Visa petition?
Thread from last year indicated that delay or even denial of H1b petition is somehow more common recently.
H1B Visa Denials/Delays for Incoming Physicians
I am doing research in the US with valid J visa till the end of this year (fortunately not subject to 212e). My hospital suggests not to make any travel plans until the H1b petition is approved. Nevertheless, I've noticed that lots of people did not receive their H1b approval till June or early July last year. Does that mean basically I could not travel abroad before the beginning of residency?
