Taking genetics right now, and I think it's pretty challenging. Does anyone have any tips? I'm thinking of dropping it and taking it my senior year..I bombed my first test....Any advice on what I should do????? Should I wait and take it? Or just suck it up and take it now?

What's your situation? What year in college are you, etc.?

Is it too late to audit the course so you can finish taking it this semester and not get a grade but will then be able to take it next semester having already seen the information once before? Think about it...you've already paid money to take it...you might as well keep going to class.

I took genetics at Michigan, tough class, we have 4 exams, studied my ass of for the first exam, but i guess studied all the wrong stuff, got a D,

studied even harder for the rest of the semester, got an A in the class

dont let one exam pull you down, its ONE exam and also the first exam so you may not have gotten the hang of the class.....learn from your mistakes and use what you have learned to do well in the class

Thanks for your reply. I'm a junior and will be taking the MCAT next semester so preferably I would not like to take it at all or take it during my senior year. One of my concerns is that since I'm not a science major (Poli Sci) I need extra science classes...

If you're taking the mcat, you need to take genetics. I took the april mcat this year and there was a LOT of genetics stuff on it.

what kind of genetics is it? is it molecular (interesting)? or is it computational/population-based ( 😴 )?

Not necessarily true. I did just fine on the BS section and had no genetics other than what was in my Intro BioSci course.

maybe your version didn't have that much genetics, but personally, I wouldn't take that chance. actually, taking the course and doing the problems will make it much easier to even do the basic stuff. I didn't really have that much genetics in my bio 101 course, so I guess it depends on your school/courses and how much genetics background you already have.
