I ended up with half a page. I think it's pretty good, no BSing at all, but since their secondary does specifically ask for "one page, single-spaced," I'm kind of worried that someone will just see my half page response and throw it out when they're screening thousands of secondaries...

I also remember lots of people on here upset about being rejected post-secondary from Georgetown w/o even an interview...

Anyone on here get accepted despite having a short essay?

I would imagine that they provide the guideline to prevent a 15-page thesis about why you want to go to GT, not because they want precisely a page. Stick with what you got - its better than another half a page of fluff.

Georgetown is one of those schools who really look at the seconardy essays when granting interviews. Last year, I wrote my best essay for them and got an interview, even though their secondary said you should not apply if you got a 8 in a section (which I did). During my interview, my interviewer asked me a lot of questions regarding the essay.

To get some brownie points, talk about cura personalis. It's THE big thing with Georgetown. Ethics is also very big there, since they have a extensive course regarding and being a religiously affiliated school, they do not allow stem cell research and abortion at their hospitals or school.

It's in the mission statement, latin for "curing the whole person." But that's all it says.

In the program summary I got during my interview (which I so nicely dug up for you guys 🙂 ), this is what it says about cura personalis, in bold type:

The Georgetown medical experience is centered in "cura personalis" - care for the whole person: a commitment to the psychological, spiritual, and social as well as physical being of the person.

It goes on to say - This philosophy finds expression in research and in scholarship, as well as in the dialogue of science and service, faith and techology.

Another thing unique about Gtown is their comprehensive program on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). They also have a Religious Traditions in Health Care course where they discuss spiritual and ethical dimensions of medical practice.

Anothe really neat thing about Georgetown is that in the 4th year, you get to do Acting Internships in surgery, medicine, and a specialty of your choice. You get to manage your own patients and teach third year students, just like real intern!

You guys could look up the rest. I can't possibly type out everything in here, but hope that gives you a better idea of what Georgetown is about. If you do interview there, Georgeena is an amazing speaker but she makes Georgetown sound so elite. But she stresses this idea of cura personalis A LOT and she boasts about how it was created and how Gtown is the first school to take all aspects of a patient into consideration during treatment. Great school nonetheless, just not for me.

i smell a re-hashing of ideas....Yum
