Honestly with those numbers I don't see why do an SMP at all. Just spend a year getting some solid clinical experience (hospital volunteering/shadowing), while working or just relaxing. SMP programs are mainly to prove you can handle med school curriculum despite a low undergrad GPA. Just my 2 cents.
Well the thing about Sinai that appealed to me was that their courses don't mirror med school classes. I'm still not 100% that I won't do an MD/PhD, I may still apply to a few. Sinai would at least keep that a very viable option for me. If I do go to Sinai, I will try to get as much clinical experience as possible, but because GU's SMP is really intense, I don't think I'd have much time to do those things. I realize that doing a MS program might be overkill, but as an academic work-a-holic, the idea of spending even a year not taking classes or working a ton freaks me out a bit.
The schools I applied to last year:
Wisconsin (where I did my undergrad)
Medical College of Wisconsin
U of Chicago
UIC
Columbia
Penn
Yale
Michigan
Minnesota
Before lecturing me about not applying to enough schools and a broader range, I really only wanted to go to UW at the time. I would have opted to wait another year if not accepted there over going somewhere else that wasn't one of the other places I applied to. Whenever I do apply again, it will be to a lot more schools.
Just as an addition to this thread, I didn't hear back from GU until 6 weeks after I got the email saying they were reviewing my application. I called their office a week and a half ago, and the person I talked to said they are at the most busy time of their admissions process. So for anyone who may be worried that they're taking so long, it's because they're really swamped right now not because they don't like your application.
