Hi everyone. I am currently deciding between the Georgetown Physiology SMP and Tulane's Cell and Molecular Biology 1 year Masters program and was hoping to get some advice to help me choose. I have about a month to decide.

My goal is to get into med school, I applied and am currently waitlisted at a couple. Stats: CA resident, a little above 3.3 GPA (both science and cumulative), 34 MCAT but its expired and I'm retaking it at the end of July. 4 years research, shadowing, 2 years hospital volunteering, TA and some community stuff. Ideally I'd like to get into medical school starting 2012, so no extra gap year or anything like that if possible.

Tulane Pros:
22k cheaper tuition, housing much cheaper
Program seems a little easier, would allow for some light ECs like research/volunteering
Masters degree might actually be worth something if med school doesn't happen

Tulane Cons:
Rep isn't as good as Georgetown
They are currently in a transition phase with new leadership
I hear the linkage to Tulane SOM is very weak??

Georgetown Pros:
Well reputed program
DC is awesome and I would love to be there
Great sense of community (already meeting some classmates through Google Group)

Georgetown Cons:
PRICE!! tuition 22k higher, and housing is expensive
Doesn't appear to be much linkage to Georgetown SOM (30 students / 180)?
No opportunity for ECs
If med school doesn't happen, the masters degree isn't worth much

I'm leaning Georgetown at the moment.

Thanks everyone :)
