there was a lot of SDN activity several days ago about imminent acceptance/waitlist/rejections for those who interviewed in early to mid October at Georgetown.

Silence from Georgetown and silence on SDN. Anyone know anything?

I think that people were talking about hearing back if they interviewed in September, not October. I interviewed in mid/late September and I was told two weeks ago that I would be hearing back in 2-3 weeks.... I'll let you know if/when I get the word.

actually, i misspoke. i also interviewed in mid-sept.

so as far as you know, no one has heard anything?

I havent seen any posts... and work has been slow, so I have been on this page a lot.

I had a Mid sept interview and was waitlisted. Does anyone remember what ms. sullivan said we should include in our letter of interest? Thanks

i had mid sept interview and haven't heard anything. how did you hear of the waitlist and WHEN??????!!!!!!

What does the Georgetown rejection look like post-interview? I did not know that they were rejecting people post interview.

Is GT sending out pre-interview rejections?
I was complete in late August and have heard... silence.

yes, look at the reject thread. lots of georgetown pre-interview rejections. silence is golden.

Thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Still anxiously checking snail mail everyday....

Is anyone curious as to why there is only ONE accept from Georgetown on the "Acceptance Thread?"

true, he has a 43 MCAT, but still. he interviewed in mid-sept as many of us did.

any explanation?

i interviewed on september 14th and got the waitlist letter about a week ago. i wasn't too keen on it though so no LOIs from me.

MDRUS, if it makes you feel better, when i called to find out about my status post interview, some young girl (probably a student) said that they hadn't begun to look at ANYONE yet and that i should hear back in 6-8 weeks. i got the waitlist letter 2 days later (so clearly she was blatantly lying).

i don't know what to feel. i interviewed right when you did and i have nothing. did i get bumped over to another review. did the letter get lost in the mail. should i call? (i have NEVER called a school and only intend to do so in an emergency.) is this an emergency?

Has it been more than 8 weeks? Ms Sullivan told us at my interview that if it had been more than 8 weeks to call, so she could figure out what was holding it up.

Interviewed at Georgetown on 9/28. I called on Wednesday to check my status, and they said my application should be reviewed within the next two weeks.

Got my rejection letter in the mail today dated 11/1. Good luck to everyone else though! 🙂

How was the rejection letter worded?

it's been exactly 8 weeks this week. but i just found out that someone who interviewed with me got a waitlist LAST week. and someone that interviewed 2 weeks AFTER me got rejected.

i am sure mine got lost in the mail and i was waitlisted and i failed to respond within 2 weeks so now i'll get rejected, aaaarrrgghhhhhhh!!!

i got my interview dates confused. i interviewed at georgetown 4 weeks ago, not 8. what a relief. i know you guys were very worried for me. thanks for standing by me in my moment of fear. yuda best!! jk

seriously, what would happen if you failed to respond within the 2 weeks to a waitlist or an acceptance? would you be out of luck or would they forgive you?

If you are waitlisted you do not need to get back to them in two weeks. You only need to contact them if you dont want to be considered anymore.

Words to the effect of "We have reviewed your application and cannot offer you a seat in the class of 2012" - my rejection letter is in the trunk of my car, so I may be a little fuzzy on the wording.
What he said.

Is there a difference between the waitlist at georgetown and the "competitive applicant pool"?

Also, does anyone remember what we were supposed to write in our letter to the university if we still wanted to be considered for admission?

i'm not sure if there's a difference, but during my interview day i took these notes:

for the waitlist/highly select pool:
3 paragraph persuasive letter, send to Sullivan

i interviewed 9/20, and i got the acceptance dated 11/1 today!

Congrats! I got the waitlist letter today, dated 11/1.

got my waitlist letter today 11/10, but i remember taking notes as well and ms. sullivan said if your in the "highly selective pool" send the 3 paragraph essay. but my letter says im just waitlisted....is this purely a matter of semantics? or does waitlist = highly selective pool.

does anyone remember when the letter needs to be sent by?

Bastards didn't even bother to seal my rejection letter...left it wide open for the disgruntled mailman to read and mock.

I'm interviewing at Georgetown in late January. Any advice on GT specific interview stuff? Feel free to PM me.

I think my letter specifically said competitive applicant pool. Did yours not mention this?

I Interviewed on Oct 22 I LOVE THIS SCHOOL...

So, does anyone know if Georgetown has filled up most of their interview slots? I've not been rejected yet, but it's not looking good.

So speaking of the Gtown interviews... did any of you all send in a thank you note to your interviewer? I think that practice is totally outdated and have yet to do it. However, that Steven fellow (the interview coordinator) seemed to hint at it a few times. ... So what's up w/ that?

I did!!!! the next day I think they are very important. They told me that they put them in you file for the review. They only want people who want to be there. You can't fake it... even at BU they said the same thing you will never get in without a good thank you note..

I got in without a thank you note. Take it for what its worth.

actually, i think mine used that exact wording as well. eh. anyways, does anyone remember the specifics of the letter? correct me if im wrong. i write the 3 paragraph persuasive letter to dr lauerman (not to mrs. sullivan), but email it to mrs sullivan (dr. lauerman doesnt have an email listed)?

Absolutely send a thank you note. I know when I was there, the subject of sending a thank you note came up several times. It certainly won't hurt you and it is a very nice touch to add to your file.

Also on the subject of sending a letter. I was under the impression that regardless of competitive pool or wait list that you should send a letter of interest to the school and yes it should be sent to Mrs. Sullivan and addressed to the Chair of the Admissions Committee.

does anyone know if adcom is meeting this week

I am georgetown undergrad- mention curas personalis in your interview they LOVE it! I gave that same advice to a friend last year and they got in!

1) What's the last month of Georgetown interviews
2) Is it even worth submitting a secondary this late in the game?

It's a bit disparaging to see a student from a Jesuit university throw around cura personalis like it was some tool to get in to medical school. What do they teach you at Georgetown?

I just talked to GT for those who interviewed and haven't heard anything.... they told my they are mailing info by Jan 4th if not earlier (if they can) It has been 10 weeks for me. I hope this delay is worth the wait.... I think this waiting to hear from schools is the hardest thing.... good luck all

Anyone know if Georgetown mailed their letters yesterday? If anyone in the DC/Maryland area receives a letter today, can you guys let us know?

ok im from canada so correct me if im wrong but where I live there's no mail delivery on saturday ......

so unless its different where you are i doubt you will have news today
