Georgetown?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I interviewed 1/30 and got a waitlist on Monday, and I have a friend who interviewed about the same time and got a rejection on Monday.

Thanks. Odd how the interview timeline doesn't always follow the notification timeline. Seems like Georgetown is one of the better waitlists to be on, given what Ms. Sullivan told us. Good luck.

Is all of the waitlist movement after May 15th or could there be any sooner? Does anyone have a guess?

I know there's not a lot of activity with respect to Georgetown acceptances on SDN, but I just wanted to post that I did receive an accept from the CAP recently. I interviewed back in the fall and just tried to stay persistent with updating LOIs. There is definitely activity before May, but looking back on last year's thread there is definitely more movement around then. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions!

Anyone heard from Georgetown recently?

Does anyone remember what we were supposed to write/do if we were waitlisted?

I believe Mrs. Sullivan told us to write a "3 paragraph" letter of interest (describing the usual why you liked Georgetown, why you'd be a good fit, etc...) addressed to:

William C. Lauerman, MD
Chair, Committee on Admissions
Georgetown University School of Medicine
Box 571421
Washington, DC 20057-1421

Mines was one page and I sent it to Mrs. Sullivan over email. Received a reply a day later confirming recipt.

Are acceptances notified by email, or are all decisions snail-mail only?

Bump...somebody's gotta know this

Mine was by snail-mail. I was put on the wl in october, sent in one letter to Mrs. Sullivan and was accepted in Jan.

so i was waitlisted back in october when i interviewed, wrote the 3 paragraph letter and sent it via email (with confirmation email) back in december, but still have not heard anything. are all subsequent letters of interest supposed to be sent via email to mrs. sullivan written to dr. lauerman as well? or do you send it via postal mail?

Anyone know the e-mail address to send it to?

Did you guys send your 3 paragraph as part of your thank you letter to the interviewer? Or did you only send the 3 paragraph letter to Dr. Lauerman? ...or maybe both? Thanks!

I e-mailed mine to Ms. Sullivan after getting my CAP letter.

Anyone hear from Georgetown recently? I interviewed 7 weeks ago now and am still waiting. Should I contact them or wait it out?

Not yet. It takes them 6-8 weeks to make a decision, and another 1-2 weeks for that letter to get to you, so give it at least another 2-3 weeks before you worry about it.

I was about to bump this thread... Has anyone who was placed in the CAP in the last month or two and submitted an LoI heard back?

Good to hear, sorry you're wating too though. I interviewed 2/20, 8 weeks ago now, no word. Hard to beleive they're giving out too many accepts now, given how many peopl they seem to like to put on the CAP list. Anyone else waitting to hear back post-interview?

They're definitely still giving out acceptances--I interviewed 2/22 and just got my acceptance letter today!

Good Luck guys. I interviewed 2/14 and got accepted today! Georgetown class of 2012

I interviewed dec 11, got waitlisted a like 2 months later and then I wrote a little essay and got in a week after I sent it just to give you idea...However I am still deciding between IU and Georgetown...any thoughts or arguments for either? or similar dilemmas?

Rejected, but with somebody else's rejection letter stuck to the back of mine.

Help!

I just got an e-mail saying that information for accepted applicants is now posted on the website, but I'm not accepted!

I called in and they said that a bunch of letters were mailed out earlier this week, but he couldn't tell me anything else, including whether or not that e-mail was only intended for accepted applicants, or the CAP, too.

So, can you please tell me if you got the e-mail, and if so, if you are accepted, recently accepted, or on the CAP with no word?

Thanks!

I just got the email too! I have no idea what this means...I haven't been accepted either. 😕

I'm still in the CAP, but I sent a LOI on April 10th.

I interviewed 2/6 and I'm from the DC area

Did other CAP people receive this email?

K. I called the admissions lady and she said that e-mail was not intended for everyone and letters went out earlier this week and they're getting ready to send out more. I told her she was leading me to believe I'd been accepted, and she gave me a happy giggle.

I also told her that I'm leaving the country in a week, so I need to know about finaid ASAP, and she tranferred me to finaid, so my guess is if you got the e-mail, you're in.

Yea! (I hope, or this is all one very cruel mistake...)

Oh wow. I sure hope this isn't a mistake!

Thank you soooooo much for the information! Let me know if you get the good news later on this week 🙂

I just talked to finaid at Georgetown, and they're preparing my finaid offer, so at this point I can't imagine we're not accepted. Yea!

I am on the CAP but didnt get this email. So I am pretty sure that its good news for you guys and bad news for me. Congratulations

Well, that doesn't mean you won't still get in. Good luck!

I was placed in the CAP in February and received this email as well (sent a letter of interest in march). I am out of the country and won't get to check anything for a while. Hope this is good news!

I still haven't received my (tentative) letter.

Anyone else get theirs this week?

I just received mine today! Yours should come early next week!!

Hey guys I wanted to let you know that I just declined my acceptance. Hope one of you gets it and good luck.

Good to hear and thanks for sharing the news

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to post off topic, but could anyone help me with the following or direct me to the proper thread?

My son went to the SMP at Georgetown. He tells me that if he would have applied there after graduation from the SMP that they would have accepted him. However, he did not apply there for medical school admission because he wanted to attend a school on the west coast (apparently a lot of people do, huh?). Well, he is on the waitlist for two schools (not on the West Coast though) and high priority on one of them. Nevertheless, the lists are moving slowly and he will likely not get in this cycle. My question is...what is the likelihood that he would be accepted at Georgetown if he applied there now for the 2009 school year?
