I would like to know what other applicants'/moderators impressions are of this program.
Prior to my interview, I had heard that this program was malignant, some residents had recently quit, and even faculty at my current program had suggested I not interview there. Because I love DC and have an interest in forensics, I decided to interview there.
I had an overall positive experience during my interview day. The program director was enthusiastic and seemed genuinely interested in resident education. The chair spoke with us briefly as an interview group, so I can't give any worthwhile feedback about him. The faculty I met were friendly, conversational, and supportive. During my interview with residents, I specifically brought up some of the concerns I had about the program. They assured me that the program was not malignant and one resident had quit 4 or 5 years ago, but it was more of a personality/personal issue with the resident. Residents at the lunch seemed content but slightly hesitant or superficial in answering some of the questions. I had a difficult time gauging how well the residents got along and spent time together outside of work.
As far as clinical opportunities, I didn't get a sense that the program was particularly strong in psychotherapy training. In addition, I was concerned about how few electives are offered in the 4th year and the degree that residents can pursue their own interests in the 4th year.
Does anyone else have any thoughts about this program?
Thanks
