I graduated from pharmacy school 10 years ago and am reciprocating my license to Georgia. Today is Jan 11, 2016 and I am taking my required wet lab Jan 15, 2016. (Yes Georgia BOP now requires ALL applicants to take the wet lab) When I started searching for what material to study and basically found none, I started getting really freaked out...felt very in the dark. So I'm am going to share what I have found so no-one has to freak out like I did. Fingers crossed that I pass this practical this Friday!

Wet lab:
1) Review exam structure:
http://gbp.georgia.gov/sites/gbp.georgia.gov/files/related_files/document/Candidate Information Bulletin - Licensure Exam.pdf
or
https://gpha.memberclicks.net/assets/docs/gpha/ga%20pharmacist%20practical%20exam%20manual.pdf
disregard page 30 on isotonicity, not likely to be on practical

2)practical skills refresher review course offered by GPhA various locations/ times per year
http://www.gpha.org/practicalskills
3) utilize the following website
http://pskills.pharm.ku.edu/ios/html5/html5-displab/index.html
click around on"prescription drop off area", "prescription filling area", "compounding area", etc etc.
I really really liked the interactive error and omissions at http://pskills.pharm.ku.edu/ios/html5/html5-eorev/index.cfm (click on "click versions)
4) review your top 200 drugs and practice compounding calculations including alligation and aliquots

Georgia MPJE
I studied for no more that 2 weeks and passed
1) I purchased practice Georgia MPJE computer material from: https://www.pharmacyexam.com/index.cfm/category/11/mpjecpje.cfm
2) I purchased practice Georgia MPJE material from Pronto pass at:
http://www.mpjesuccess.com
3) I also in the end did end up reading all of title 16 and title 26 and 480 at:https://gbp.georgia.gov/laws-policies-rules
it was kinda boring but i got thru it in 2.5 days

Same situation as you are so I'll be there too! Found most of the same stuff you did. Good luck!

I have taken Georgia's wet lab and I can tell you for certain it is fairly easy. Not many students fail at all. Good luck!

So, do you actually make stuff like ointments, or is it on paper? I've heard that IV's are covered- do you actually don gloves and perform aseptic technique?
I'm coming from California, licensed before 2004- oh joy for me, I need to take all 3 exams

What should we review about the top 200 drugs? Just brand/generic or dosing, counseling, drug interactions, contraindications, adverse effects as well?

Any tips to help memorize all of these things for all those drugs?

Thanks!

You actually make stuff (1 IV and 1 non- IV). One year they had some issue so they just had to submit paper calculations and not make anything.

Sorry to threadjack: Asking for general help related to the GA MPJE.

This question is about the expiration dates prescriptions for CIIs and non-controlled "dangerous drugs". Flatly, is there one?

I know CIII-V are 6Mo for GA. I've worked retail in TN and everything other than controls was one year based on our computer system.

In Georgia? Technically, no, there's not a real expiration for CII's.

I just took the GA MPJE yesterday, and wow, there is a good amount of grey area!

For many of the questions, I already had the best possible answer in my head and had to struggle with the terrible ones they provided.

I also ran into a couple about "primary engineering control" (whatever that means) and compounding nuclear drugs that just went over my head.

Overall, I was sure about maybe 40 questions, and grey area (down to two choices) for the rest, with between 5-10 that were just like... whoosh.

For compounding, do we have to know what preservatives and flavors to use? I am pretty comfortable with calculations but not sure about product selections other than active ingredient... and how complicated the exam would be.

....wow. Do not sleep on errors and omissions... Everyone talked light of it, but I found it incredibly difficult. I started panicking when I went through the first three and didn't notice any errors or omissions...

I think first question didn't have any error? But, then, I know among first questions, I had five questions in a row that I would call doctor about... I am like what the hell??

I took the wet lab today and feeling unsure as of right now. I made the stupidest mistakes on the compounding calculations. I got so nervous and divide instead of multiply for the easiest prescription, don't ask me why, but I did. I did fairly well on the rest of the examination. Does anyone know the fail rate on the GA Pharmacy Practical? I just want some kind prediction on my chance of passing.

The compounding part kinda shook me too. I think the calculations were much easier than what I studied for. Kept second guessing myself, because I felt like it was too easy. Made me run short on time, and I believe I omitted some minor things on my label. Hope I put the right amount into my IV bag 5ml???

The wording for the choices on errors and omissions is what made it tricky for me. I knew exactly what was or wasn't right, but it was a little confusing as to which choice I should select.

For those who took it june 16th, it looks like the scores have been calculated. I havent received an official letter but I looked up my application and I now have an active license. Searched my license in the GA pharmacist license verification, and walahhh it was there with its expiration date and license number. :soexcited:

The process was a complete mess but I passed.

I suppose you already took the NAPLEX and MPJE too for you to be already licensed, correct?

Congrats! I'm not able to check for an active license yet since I haven't taken the MPJE yet. Does the license checklist say completed for yours?

Yeah I am already a licensed Pharmacist just was looking to relocate. I took my mpje already, this was the most difficult state to get licensed, with them losing my paperwork etc., and if I didnt pass this exam I would have to start the reciprocity process over again because my ATT expire next month.

No the checklist disappeared and no longer pending, it now just has my profile with my license information and address.

I took my practical June 16th as well, and I passed my GA mpje over month ago. I'm from another state, so they had to transfer my Naplex score. I'm nervous b/c I went to the lic verification website (https://gadch.mylicense.com/verification/Search.aspx) but I'm not popping up at all? Does this mean I failed? You said something about a checklist? What website did you go to? Thanks

I know that part was iffy, especially in the beginning. In my checklist it still says "unchecked" under Passed Practical Exam on the Georgia Board website. I know you haven't taken the mpje or naplex, but you can still see if you're practical exam is complete/unchecked. I took mines 6/16 and its says "unchecked." Same for you?

I am taking mpje tomorrow but exam pass later and practical exam score was changed to completed status on 6/30

I took all the licensing exams and my MPJE and Naplex showed up as checked on the GA BOP website within 2 days of the score being released on NABP. I never got anything saying I passed the wet lab, but my actual license was released on the GA BOP website last Thursday (6/30) along with several friends who took it the same day.

Hope you hear from them soon! If not, Itovia Evans is the person you want to contact, and she is pretty quick about things.

Also, isn't it annoying that if they all gave us our licenses on July 1st instead of June 30, we would have to complete no CE hours? It's bad enough the license is only valid for 6 months and expires on the 31 of this even numbered year. -_-

I'm calling it a checklist but it is just that chart you see that they periodically update when you sign in that says completed or unchecked. Before the wetlab my status for the practical was unchecked, once I passed when I logged in the checklist is no longer there instead you will see your license name and expiration date and address. If you havent taken all the license requirements and you passed it should just say completed with the chart still existing on your profile.

Any idea where else I could find the interactive lab and errors and omissions websites? Looks like they may have been taken down or changed. I saved your thread and had opened up all links before but of course after studying all other material, I saved these for last and now they are gone :(

I'm in the same boat. Hopefully it's just down for maintenance. Does anyone know if the practical skills refresher review course is worth the money.. It pretty pricey 0_o

It took us about 5 hrs but you have to be there 30 minutes before your exam starts to sign in. So at least give about 6 hrs I would think.

Its definitely not worth going to that review lecture. There was no new information on there i havent seen on previous threads from students. He actually confused me more with the idea that we ve to know aliquots if a torsion scale is given. I am a foreign student from the uk so thus was very new to me. The brands and generics are killing me because back in the uk we onlu use generics. I am due to take the exams this week and now i am very nervous.

What did y'all think about the GA practical/wetlab on 8/4/2016? Personally, I found the E's & O's confusing and stressful.. I would consider myself lucky if I passed especially due to the fact that we can't retake it until January 2017.. Please share your experiences..Also does anybody know if the grades are curved? Freaking out here..

I took the wet lab 8/4 as well. I'm freaking out too because I know I messed up both calculations on the compounding section! E&O's were so vague- it seemed like I had too many A's or F's.

True, the E's and O's had some very confusing ones. To be optimistic the bulletin says u need at least 70% in that section to pass. So you can get 9 wrong and still pass. That is If u confident in the other sections

Same here, had a bunch A's and F's, and to make matters worse I have the Naplex in 2 weeks time (can hardly focus)..do they usually take long to post the grades.. I pray they throw out some questions..

Anyone heard from the GA BOP regarding their wet lab scores? I thought the exam coordinator said it will take a week..
