seeing as i won't even finish interviewing until late jan, i'm not thinking about any of this until the start of feb. we have til mid-feb to get the rol in, anyway.

BTW, assuming that internship begins July 5:

Jan. 31 days,
Feb. 28 days,
Mar. 31 days,
Apr. 30 days,
May 31 days
June 30 days,
July 5 days + December 4 days (not counting today) = 190 Days until internship begins!

Actually, it depends on the program/school! Some schools start earlier (they have an in-depth orientation); while others will not require you to report until after the Fourth of July.

Regardless of whether it's the first or the fifth, the math is somewhat simple: just subtract 5 from 190 (190-5= 185)!

I've noticed that too DS- also, do you know why we have to take the ACLS to graduate and then take it again during internship? I was just wondering why we have to do it twice?

Hi Poety and the gang.

You dont' have to have ACLS to graduate per se, unless it's your medical school's policy. I never took it in medical school...just BLS.

Of course, you have to have ACLS to start internship for obvious reasons. The good news is that if you have a valid ACLS certificate, you don't have to do it twice in most cases...just show them the proof. However, you'll most likely need to renew it anyway when it expires, so it's kinda moot.

I agree with Doc Samson. Most programs start in the middle of June. They start with lots of training, ACLS, computer training, child abuse certificates, pharmacy overview and prescription/drip rate stuff, pain medication overview, formulary vs. non-formulary, etc, etc.

Take a vacation or cruise prior to the start of internship. Visit Ireland...go to Europe, sit on the beach. You'll thank yourself later.
