Hi everyone,

I graduated in May and took a full-time scribe position during my gap year/continued to do clinical volunteering and shadowing. My biggest weakness on my application was clinical hours, which is why I devoted this year to it. I know it is SUPER early to be thinking about the possibility of reapplication, but I want to be prepared if it comes to it. I need to be making a solid salary during gap year #2 (if it occurs), so I can't keep scribing even though I love it.

My degree is in business, and campus recruiting cycles for entry level positions are already ongoing. I know that I am already at a disadvantage competitiveness-wise for these positions since I took a year off after school, so I want to go ahead and start looking into my options. How would it look to medical schools I spent a possible gap year #2 in a field like finance? I would love something in the medical field, but really need to pay the bills...

Thanks for your help!

It's a pre-med delusion that everything you do has to be related to Medicine. Having work experience is good. During your off year, if you can continue to volunteer, that you make you a more competitive candidate.
