Just curious -

At my school, the only way to get "honors" on any rotation (3rd or 4th year) is to

1. Get honors in the rotation (all excellents with no more than 4 "O"'s - which means "outstanding")

2. Score better than 90% on the OSCE

3. Score better than 2 standard deviations above the mean on the shelf

As I understand it, only one person in the year before me got "honors" in one rotation.

So I hope you have decided not to even bother. That's what any rational person would do.

So there is little incentive to prepare for shelf exams, I take it. Beyond passing.

Find out what goes into your Dean's letter (probably nothing but clinical evals) and focus on that.

These people don't understand the concept of proportional reward. I must do all of that just to get a word on my transcript? Is there some cash or sex involved? Otherwise, it's probably not worth it.

wow...doesn't it sometimes seem like people forget to consider their students when they set up grading schemas?
