i was wondering how often this happens and do you generally need a lot better stats than say tryin to get in after 4 years. I know if schools would only see 2 years worth of course work if you're tryin to get in after 3 years ....

thanks

Here's the deal:

It happens not too often, because the fact that you are going against people with more credentials (undergraduate, graduate, post bac, etc.) than you. Thus, to stand out, you usually need higher scores, and heavy course-loads to prove you are capable, and mature enough, to handle the course load. It is safe to say that schools favor people that have completed an ungraduate degree.

From what I have gathered speaking to recruiters, students, and faculty, I agree with this. That is not to say that you don't have a shot - rather it is that some applicants have their cards stacked a bit differently and that can tip things in their favor.
