I think you should. Own it, man. You have great stats. Just write about it on the app and move on. Say how you learned from it. Talk about how you've grown. You're a great candidate and I'm sure adcoms will look past it. Just make sure you're clear that it's a problem from the past, or a one-off. Make sure that you don't present yourself as a risky pick for the school in any way.

IF it comes up during an interview just swiftly brush it aside and try to change the subject lol. You don't want this to play a major factor in their decision. Minimize this situation as much as possible. Maybe even laugh about it during the interview, to make it seem like it was just something stupid you did ONCE (not something that you had a habit of doing). Be honest, but concise on the app about this (Don't go too much into detail, but disclose the details and explain WHY you shoplifted).

It probably wont even come up during most interviews.

Don't brush it aside. Bad advice. Own it and explain. If you try to direct the conversation away from that, you'll come off as shady and unrepentant. Acknowledge your mistakes and then spin it into something positive. Don't laugh about it... They want to know that you're serious about dentistry. Not that you're playing the "oh I was a stupid freshman/sophomore" card. If you don't take your mistakes seriously, what's stopping you from doing it again? Red flag.
