The weakest part of your application is your PCAT score. If you don't get accepted this year it would definitely be in your best interest to spend some time studying and preparing to take the PCAT again. Everything else that you have indicated looks good; I would just work on bringing that PCAT score up to at least the 60 percentile. Good luck! By the way, what schools have you applied to?

Improving the PCAT score sounds like a good idea. There are some schools in California that don't require PCAT, so you can try applying to those schools too. Good luck!

yeah the pcat score is the only weakness, what were your individual scores? from your science GPA, it seems like you wouldnt have had too much trouble with the sciences, so i would just focus really hard on the parts that brought you down and take it again...and definately continue your pharmacy experiences!
don't lose hope quite yet!

thank you for replying. i really appreciate it. i have applied to palm beach atlantic university in west palm beach, nova southeastern university in ft.lauderdale and university of florida in gainesville. i really have a doubt i will get in this year but if i get in, it will be good but definitely i will work on your advice because thats my weakest part. thank you so much.

I'm not sure about the other schools, but UF has had a PCAT cutoff of 80 in recent years. You really need to retake the PCAT or consider applying to schools that do not require the PCAT. Good Luck!

A 50 on the PCAT is usually the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM score to be considered.

43 on the PCAT for me.. interview to Midwestern-Glendale
57 a second time... ehh! i hate the pcat

Not to be mean, but I have never heard of someone with lower than a 50 on the PCAT getting an interview. I've always been under the impression that a 50 is the absolute minimum score to even be considered. Congrats on that my friend!

I'm not the best standardized test taker in the world so I can definitely understand the situation that you have which is having a competitive GPA but less than stellar PCAT scores. As others have suggested, either apply to schools that don't require the PCAT or invest in a PCAT prep program that will give you individualized attention and really help you target in on your areas of weakness. I am assuming that you studied the previous times that you took the PCAT and based on your GPA, it is obvious that you can grasp tough scientific information so maybe it is the way in which you are studying for the PCAT. I have never taken a Kaplan course (maybe I should have) but I would definitely talk to some of the folks on the boards who have...good luck!

do pharmacy schools care what college you graduated from? do they take that in consideration when they look at your GPA?

Last year, the University of Minnesota accepted someone with a composite score of 29%. Obviously this individual had outstanding accomplishments in other areas that were considered, and this leads me to believe that, at least for the UofM, no one component of your application is more important than another.

taking a pcat class i'm sure would help...but your gpa and stuff is really good.
I got in the 98th on my pcat, BUT i have a 3.0 overall gpa and like a 2.5 prereq gpa (been rockin the Cs) and zeeeeero pharmacy experience, and i've gotten accepted to both schools i've interviewed with (south and vcu) and have an interview coming up at mercer. so i think you can be not-so-hot on one stat and still have some kind of chance depending on the school.

Thanks everyone for replying! i would definitely work on the advices given by few of you. Thanks for all the comfort. Thanks again!!!

Actually i know someone this year who has been accepted to two schools with PCAT scores lower then 50. I know the person was accepted to McWorther ( i think that is how you spell it...alabame) and PBA.
But everyone is right....you need to try to get ateast 60 composite to have a decent chance.....but there are always exceptions and luck.
You can also try applying to schools that don't require PCAT.
MCPHS-worcester and california schools and i am sure there are others.......but i would say just study and retake the MCAT....i am sure you can break 60...if you just study a little!!!!!!!

It is possible to get accepted with low pcat scores. My old roomate did it with a mid 50's score. It just means that you need to have experience or something else that makes you standout and a kick ass interview. Schools know that not everyone is a pro exam taker.
