Hey everyone,

I'm a US citizen who just finished my basic sciences at a Caribbean medical school. I am currently heading back to the states to enter into my introduction to clinical training courses. I wanted to start researching my chances of getting into USUHS, as a first year student, for the Fall of 2013. Do you think that, by having finished my basic sciences already, I will be at an advantage in competing for a spot? Will there be waiver options for my application process?

Any information would be wonderful.

Thank You.

You want to re-do M1/M2 at a US MD?

A previous matriculation is a disadvantage. How did you come to be a re -applicant?

AAMC has ways for you to transfer. Start contacting schools, like USUHS, to see what they think.

Very few schools accept transfers from non LCME accredited schools. The ones that do have some sort of affiliation agreement with the referring institution.

The USUHS website explicitly states that you must complete their entire four-year curriculum, so you could not expect any course waivers. And they do not take any transfers: http://www.usuhs.mil/medschool/admissions/faq.html

The school is selective, with average undergrad cGPA of 3.5 and MCAT of 30. The MCAT must have been taken within three years of matriculation date, so you'd likely be facing a retake. How competitive were your stats originally?

Most med schools discriminate against previous med school matriculants. You might give them a call and see what they say.
