So I was looking at a couple summer research programs and there 2 programs that I'm interested in so I'm gonna apply to both of them, but I notice one program requires 2 letters from faculty members, and the other one requires 1 faculty letter and 1 dean letter.

well..i'm currently an MS1 and school just started literally 2 months ago and the apps for these programs are due in a few months, so I'm kinda having trouble getting these letters. I only know 1 faculty member because he teaches in my PBL group so I'm planning on asking him, but besides I don't really know any of the professors.

In the beginning of the school, we're assigned an academic advisor and my academic advisor happens to be the dean of students, but I only met him like 3 times during lunch as part of informal meetings. Do you think it's ok if I just tell him my situation, give him my CV and ask for the letter? cause I really dont know anyone else..
For those who have applied for summer programs and such, how did you ask for the letters of rec?

I'm only a pre-med - but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Tell them you will provide supplementary materials (CV, any essays, etc.) Just do it - don't put it off.
