As the first day of pharmacy school approaches, I'm suddenly going into panic mode. Although I am very excited about finally starting pharmacy school, I am nervous too.

Does anyone else feel this way? Does anyone already in pharmacy school remember feeling this way and have some advice?

Thanks!

you got so nervous that you posted the same thread twice huh?

I think it is normal to be nervous. I am slightly nervous myself because I do not know what to expect in pharm school and because I will be in a different school, in a different state, and I will have to find my way around.

However, a part of me is really exited and cannot wait to start. Don't worry, I'm sure you will do fine 😀

It's not bad at all... well, except for the looooong 3 days of orientation.

Are there things in particular you're nervous about?

its normal. dont you remember starting college when you were a freshman ?(of course i think nervousness was proportional to the size of the school)

I remember everyone being freaked out

Thanks for the support everyone, I needed that!

The part that I am nervous about is the workload.

not knowing exactly waht to expect makes people nervous.

As long as you can manage your time well, and stay on top of things, you'll be fine. We have quite a few classmates with spouses and kids, and most of them seem to be doing a great job, so I'm sure you will too!

Glad to know there are others just as nervous as I am. I'm mostly nervous for the reasons already pointed out (e.g. not sure what to expect, workload, etc). I really just want to make it through and get school over with. I'll try to put more effort into Pharmacy school than I did in my previous three years. I'll probably put the most emphasis on actually learning and remembering how to apply certain things. In my previous three years I was just more concerned with getting it over with and didn't pay to much attention to remembering the material and being able to apply it, oh well... live and learn! Hope I can get motivated and stay motivated for four long/hard years! Have fun guys/gals! 😉

The part that I am nervous about is the workload.

The fist three quarters are basically all pure memorization. No hard concepts to grasp. Just take the time to memorize. The workload depends on what grade you want to get and how good you are at memorizing. There were only a couple of tests where the average was below 80 and that was probably in immuno and micro in the third quarter... so that should ease your mind. Oh and most of the tests are multiple choice up until the fourth quarter so studing for recognition works and saves time. It also depends on if you want to know the material or pass the test. FOr example the first three quarters I basically studied the night before the exam and got mostly A's and B's, I did stay up all night though. I would have to say I don't remember much.

The fourth quarter you really get hit with some chemistry and MOAS and tons of material to memorize... but hopefully by then you have gotten into a habit that works for you. I am starting to study a day earlier now with the hopes the info will stick more because we are getting into stuff that we really need to know.
But there are some people that study every day and night. I don't think they necessarly do better on the exams but I am sure they remember the material for more than two days.
Oh and if you work in a pharmacy it really helps you in some course... if you never stepped foot in a pharmacy then you might have to do a little catch up.
You can still have a life while going to pharmacy school.

3 whole days, huh? We have an entire WEEK. 😛

Well, you've got us beat there, but did your 5 days include listening to the librarian drone on and on about the library for over an hour?

😴

mines a week too. andi think its graded cause its part of our schedule and has a course code name

I completed my orientation today. It was a grand total of 3hrs.

I feel what u are saying! I am excited to be starting because in a couple of years I will be a pharmacist, but I am scared to "fail" due to workload and family issues. Once we get into the swing of things, we will all do fine.

omg so lucky

ive been reading thru my material and we have an orientation test and have to make portfolios n' stuff.

🙄

i just hope no one gives a 3 hour speech about the library in the library cause it would be ironic given the fact I have spent countless hours there already this year

Don't worry.. pharmacy school is easier than undergrad....

That sucks!

haha yeah it kind of does.

but I have learned you always learn something of use out of something academic even if you go in thinking its a waste of time
