I've done a few CD Reading in the past few days, and I've been getting 15 and 16 consistently. I just CAN'T seem to get past that 17 line no matter how much I try to focus. Is there any advice on how to master CD Reading.

my strategy has been to read the whole passage as I take notes as I go along and tackle the questions. If I do SnD, I get stuck on the inference questions and end up having to skip it and not being able to come back to it cuz I run out of time in the end.

can someone also relate to the connection between CD Reading and the Real DAT reading? thxxxxx

CDReading is not a good representation of the actual RC on the DAT. CDReading has a lot of historical passages, and they have wayyy too much tone/inference questions. Most passages in the actual DAT are science based and they usually have less tone/inference questions.

I agree with this advice. The passages are not representative of the real test. However, their questions will prepare you for the few tone and big picture questions you may encounter. I felt that my test was well represented by the CDR tone questions, Topscore passages, and Topscore search and destroy questions.

RC was my greatest weakness during my studies. I found that few techniques worked for me, especially cycling through the questions multiple times. In the end, I just stuck with a similar technique to yours and read the passage in its entirety, taking notes as I went. I then tackled the questions, using my notes as a guide. However, be careful with this technique because if you write too many notes, you will waste time and not finish.

At the end of the day, find a technique that works best for you. Once you feel comfortable with it, keep on practicing. Even though reading comp is something that is ideally developed through years of reading, it is still something that can certainly be improved through practice and exposure. Good luck to you!

On CDR, I read the passages because they were a pretty easy and somewhat entertaining. The passages on CDR were "story-like", so after reading CDR passages, I could retain the info and answer questions pretty easily. But I always ran out of time for the last 4 questions though.
On the actual DAT, I ended up doing search and destroy because the passages I got had too much science details and I couldn't concentrate or retain all of it.
My scores ranged 18 to 22 on CDR, and I got a 24 on the real thing. I think you have to judge whether to read or s&d based on the passages you end up getting.
