Getting shadowing without cold-calling

I live in a big city near a lot of schools and hospitals--lots of demand for shadowing. I'm trying to find primary care places to shadow at and I might as well just not even call them, because I'd have the same success rate.

Does anyone have any strategies/tips for getting primary care shadowing? I'm starting to get discouraged spending an hour or two cold calling that yields *literally* nothing.

Just scribe. You'll go above and beyond and do more shadowing than you'll want in the first place. Pediatric EDs are pretty nice because you often see low acuity cases that should have gone to PCPs...

Step 1. Volunteer at a clinic serving disadvantaged population.
Step 2. Interact and form a relationship with doctors.
Step 3. Shadow.
Step 4. Apply to med school.
Step 5. Get rejected.
Step 6. Sit in a dark corner, hug yourself, rock back and forth, and cry.
Step 7. Rinse and repeat.
