I live in a big city near a lot of schools and hospitals--lots of demand for shadowing. I'm trying to find primary care places to shadow at and I might as well just not even call them, because I'd have the same success rate.

Does anyone have any strategies/tips for getting primary care shadowing? I'm starting to get discouraged spending an hour or two cold calling that yields *literally* nothing.

I found out that my university hospital provides physicians email address. What I did was I ended up cold emailing every-single-physician I could.

You will get rejected but there will be some physicians accepting students. You have to be persistent and have patience. Luckily after cold emailing for a good 2 weeks I found my break and after filling out all the necessary paperwork, I should be shadowing that physician this fall.

I would check your university hospital, sometimes they provide email’s to contact physicians. Good luck!
