I have a friend that is hoping to match in Anesthesia. I would like to buy her a gift when that happens... I was thinking a reference text would fit the bill. Any suggestions? What does today's resident in gas find the most useful?

dfwentpa said:Lol, Thanks for the gift advice 🙂 She's not my GF or fiancee'... Her husband can buy those. I just thought an anesthesia version of the " scut monkey" would be helpful. Do you guys have to get your own earpieces for your stethescopes? Maybe a gift certificate to have one made? I've watched this girl grow from a 5 yr old tomboy to a beautiful 25 yo confident woman. I'd like to get something to show her how proud I am of her.

dfwentpa said:I like the ideas...I'll buy a bottle of good single malt on match day and then squirrel it away until she graduates residency (a lot of assumptions I know). I like the embroidered scrub cap idea. As far as the pen idea goes, I've had the same cheap pen for about 5 yrs now- like cheap sunglasses, I couldn't lose 'em if I tried. I can and have lost expensive ones in a matter of weeks! 😡 Maybe a pair of Birkenstock shoes for the OR? Chicamedica- I bet there's someone out there wondering what to get you! 🙂
excellent link. I started my wishlist there if anyone here wants to drop 3K on a really cute pair of earrings for me - go right ahead!stephend7799 said:

Since I am married - probably not for 3K, but everybody has their price whether they admit it or not!DrRobert said:would you put out?

opus...a sought after vintage...1997......that means 9 years of aging...
I'M GETTING MISTY......I NEED A TISSUE....
I thought of the stethescope but it seems most med students buy the top o' the line Lithman with auto trans and power steering when they get acceptd to med school!jetproppilot said:definitely not an earpiece. Noone uses them.
A nice stethescope, like a Litman's, would be the only industry-specific gift I'd give an anesthesia provider.
Alcohol would be a close second....no, sorry, move these to first place..nice case of Silver Oaks Cab, case of Caymus cab, ....and on a less expensive tier, case of Bogle cab, case of Ravenswood Red Zin cab, and on a local level, Pontchartrain Vineyards wines are great, with the exception of their cab reserve.
