Biology. And no. I'm glad I took this major and got my @$$ handed to me. If I didn't push myself and slam my balls into the wall, I think I MIGHT have an easier time in getting in to medical school, but the workload may have come a shock.

As a bio major, I have the luxury of being able to take just about any biologically related science course I want. Therefore, it was a good way to determine whether or not medicine was what I wanted. I chose classes and courseloads that would not only challenge me, but give me at least a good taste of what was to come. And spank me silly, I love it!

biochem...and no.

it allowed me to take my science courses while freeing me up to take my minors and other classes outside of the sciences freely.

i would have to think that most would have changed their major during their time in college if they didnt like it. its why many college students end up changing their intial majors.

Never thought of it that way. I really don't like my major, microbiology because it focuses too much on the molecular aspect of things. The only class I really liked was human metabolism which was part of a year long series of biochem classes required. I am interested in clinical aspects of disease not adhesins and flagella. That being said it has made me realize that I want to go into medicine even more. And like TTSD said i did have to bust my ass so it will make med school easier as we will go over the same stuff that i have struggled with. I would be a history major if I wasn't going to be a doctor.

economics. Yes, but it wouldn't be to anything science related. If I had to choose a major again, I'd pick probably pick sociology. I very much like biology and chemistry (I minored in chem) but both of these have many required classes that are kind of boring and out of the realm of medical related topics and so I wouldn't particularly want to take them if I didn't have to. As for sociology, I have taken a few soc classes and am interested in various types and perspectives and just wish that I had a chance to take a few more courses in it. I am taking a course this semester, my last before medical school, called Sociology of medicine. It is interesting.

Dmitrinyr,

Your signature is hilarious!

I'm microbio and in my last semester, and I probably would go another route if I could go back. Microbio wasn't bad, but I'm going to learn all of the important stuff in med school anyway. Looking back, I think I would have majored in philosophy, sociology, or theology/religion. These are the things that interest me outside of medicine, and it would have complemented/counter-balanced the pre-med requisites.

I started out as a psycology major and switched to Biology after 2 semesters. I am really glad I did. I loved the Biology classes much more and I would not change my major.

Well, actually I would have been a microbiology major if my school had offered it.

Biology. Yes I would switch to a Med. Tech. degree program or cytotechnology. Much better prep for med school. Not to mention it's about 25 times more marketable if you decide to look for a job for a few years (or if, heaven help you, you want to have a part time job in med school).

History. I loved it and wouldn't do it any differently. I double minored in sciences, so it's not like I didn't get enough science classes. But I love history and politics, so doing the history major was awesome.

I'm a philosophy major. If I had the opportunity, I think I would add a political science major instead of double-minoring in chem and bio. So, ideally, I would have a poli-sci and philosophy double major w/ a bio minor. Eh, where does the time go?...

Biochemistry and Chemistry. If I could change it I would do Civil Engineering or Architecture plus Biochemistry.

Anthro and Bio major, BME minor....
would not change a thing....
maybe throw in a Mech E minor also...

Biology: Systems Physiology Major with Chemistry Minor and Comparative Religious Studies Minor. And I wouldn't change a thing. If I had done it differently I quite possibly would not have had the introspective experience that I have had. Definately no.

Chemistry. No, I wouldn't change it. Though if I could go back, I'd double-major in Chem and English.
