This is different than what I was told, especially for the air force. There are only 12 4 year scholarships and about 60 3 year, I don't know specifically about the other branches but my guess was that there would be a consistent trend across the three branches.

Actually, the navy also has more 4 year scholarships than 3 years in addition to their hspc. The air force is the exception. Next time do your research a little better. It would be shame to future predents if they mistakenly took your advice.

I know I'm the only one on here with incorrect information. My bad!! This doesn't change my original suggestion that he should apply for the 3 year scholarship next year cause that's all he can do at this point this late in the game.

I will only comment on the air force, the 4 year is much more competitive than the 3 year. As far as the other branches @ktran17 claims that they are more competitive

That's interesting... I would think many people would go for the 3 yr as just 1 yr of tuition should be pretty manageable...

Yeah but another whole year with a living stipend and all is pretty enticing too..

I have been having the same dilemma. I decided to go with the cheaper out of state school and i suggest you look into the allied health professionals scholarship or the military scholarship if that's not an issue. Paying off that amount of money will almost double with interest and you'll be in debt for at least 20+ years. I can see why this is a turn off
