Which of the 2 causes the following? differentiation of preadipocytes into adipocytes and expression of GLUT4 in adipocytes

Answer was Glitazones. However, doesn't insulin itself cause these effects? increased expression is GLUT4 a main function of insulin... so wouldn't Glyburide (an insulin secretagogue) also cause these fx?

gliburide doesnt cause differentiation of preadipocytes into adipocytes and expression of GLUT4 in adipocytes....insulin does. All gliburide does is cause release of insulin. You've gotta think as direct and as simple as possible. What is the direct MOA of the drug, not what are all the downstream effects to the drugs MOA.
